This might free up a mind or two that is struggling with the rapture thing.
I'm going to assume that not one of them posted the only rapture verse in the Bible. I'm still waiting for a check from a few of the places that offered a reward for posting any rapture verse,

The promised rapture is God removing believers from the earth and taking them to heaven where they are safe while the earth goes through extreme tribulation.
Extreme tribulation cannot happen before the 5th trump sounds as that is when 1/3 woes begins and 5 months later the 2/3 woes begins and 42 months (1260 days)later the 7th trump sounds and the most tribulation the world has experienced begin and ends on the same as that is when Christ arrives and pours the 7 vials out on a sinful earth. When they are dead the only living people are the 144,000 to represent the whole of the 12 Tribes that will be resurrected back to life to a spot in the land of Israel and 1/3 of all Gentiles alive before the 7th trump sounded will still be alive after the vials are poured out on them.

More about them during that time later. 1,000 years later Satan is released from the PIT and the 'sands of the seas' that follow him are the fallen angels that reigned on earth from the time Adam and Eve were exiled from the garden area until the flood. 10,000 holy Angels put them into the same PIT that Christ puts Satan in on the day of His return. They are the 'sons of God' from Ge:6 and they are "ungodly men' from the Book of Jude.

It is at that time that fire from God in Heaven is reigned down on them and when that fire is finished the planet is totally melted as far as any metal exposed is in that state and this earth is said to not exist anymore.

The people who are alive on the earth at the end of the 1,000 years are removed from this earth and taken to the location of Mount Sion and Judgment Day. When the people all pass they enter New Jerusalem and that city brings them all back here to planet earth. A place that is as barren as the Garden of Eden is at the Ge:2 version of creation, the new earth version follows that same pattern with one slight difference.
Adam and Eve and all their children are inside of New Jerusalem when it lands and when the east gate opens the living water flows out in the form of a mist. As in Ge:2 wherever the mist goes life is restored (same as the river in Eze:47 is the model for the 1,000 years) wherever it goes.
Mankind was restored to life at Judgement Day so the life that is resurrected is all the flesh that was 'after it's kind' in the Ge:1 version of creation. The flesh of fish was saved in Eze:47 when the Dead Sea was made healthy, all other flesh will be made just as healthy with an addition reward. They will be like Adam was in that they will know about God and are able to walk and talk with him but the will not know about good and evil and they are eternal beings in that they have to eat food to remain alive. That is provided for them by the people that will exit New Jerusalem. (basically all the people that were resurrected at Judgment Day, they are the group mentioned after the 12 Tribes are in Re:7, the chapter that covers the first and last people to be sealed by God)

The people that are alive at the end of the 1st day of the 1,000 years are a static group for that whole time so the same people that are taken from the earth when Satan is being sent to the fiery lake. It takes the whole 1,000 years to make the people holy enough that God doesn't sent them to fiery lake also.

Isa:51:6:
Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
and look upon the earth beneath:
for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke,
and the earth shall wax old like a garment,
and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner:
but my salvation shall be for ever,
and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

Re:20:10:
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,
where the beast and the false prophet are,
and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Re:20:11:
And I saw a great white throne,
and him that sat on it,
from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away;
and there was found no place for them.

Heb:12:18-23:
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire,
nor unto blackness,
and darkness,
and tempest,
And the sound of a trumpet,
and the voice of words;
which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
(For they could not endure that which was commanded,
And if so much as a beast touch the mountain,
it shall be stoned,
or thrust through with a dart:
And so terrible was the sight,
that Moses said,
I exceedingly fear and quake:)
But ye are come unto mount Sion,
and unto the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem,
and to an innumerable company of angels,
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
which are written in heaven,
