A lot of money has left the crypto market due to the removal of the Koreans lat week.

The market will balance out, but things are painful right now. Other factors may be people taking profits after the holiday run up, and taking out $ to pay Christmas bills.

However, you don't actually need to use an exchange.

There are exchanges popping up left and right. Be careful.

You could purchase one of the major cryptos (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.) and then just use ShapeShift to get some altcoins. They usually have 40+ coins available. You could test out very small swaps using an app wallet such as Coinomi, if you don't have a hardware wallet. However, you should get a hardware wallet.

I agree with multiple things this person said, but I also believe that cryptos are here to stay. The future is digital, but right now cash exists and we are transitioning into a digital financial world.

(when it comes to it, I predict cryptocurrencies will be renamed/rebranded and will eventually make cash transactions obsolete.

I have noticed a lot of people running to cryptopia for penny coins.

That is all fine and good, but please be aware, cryptopia takes on a lot of serious shit coins. There is money to be made, but realize this is VERY risky, as groups pump n dump these coins regularly. ZCL seems to be getting a lot of attention now as apparently the fork announcement is imminent. I’ve bought a little bit over the last few days. Just curious what everyone thinks will happen to the ZCL price after the fork? Will it even matter though since ZCL holders will get BTCP coins?

This sort of mirrors a curiosity I have. I'm not sure whether a crypto market is sustainable long term - at least long enough to analyze global patterns.

On the plus side, I'm starting to look at coins and coin value as public sentiment toward ideas that are rooted in assigning, storing and trading value, with strong uses in IP. Some gems in the shitcoin market, but the more we move forward, we'll see less use cases with value, as competing ideas fall off and less use cases in general. I also believe that a crypto market could flourish just like a stock market, but the hype starts long before an idea makes it to market. Like a different style of crowd source.

On the negative side, the coins themselves are generated not out of productivity, but electrical waste. Hopefully this changes and mining and consensus is distributed across all computing devices, especially with some of the use cases with advertising, image, music and sound, gaming, etc. But for now, the backing, while decentralized, most coins have no value. Not going to go into liquidity here as Trinity exemplified that point well already.

I would like to see a long term crypto market, with different tiers of currencies - long term and short lived. The pump and dump will always remain as a normal cycle of some coins, but should decrease as the entire market matures. The crypto itself may not have a traditional backing, but people throwing money at for various reasons does give it value.

I trade currencies with technical patterns. In the crypto market, technical patterns are partially BS, as the entire market can almost be seen as rising and falling together being connected to bitcoin. On the other hand, technical patterns are self fulfilling to some degree, so when people see a head and shoulders or an inside bar, they react to them per definition and influence the trading pairs. Not sure what percentage of crypto traders use technicals though; there are a lot of newbies out there.

I enjoyed reading this response! Thinking about it, the entire crypto market COULD be totally controlled by a few people right now.

lets say someone has 1 billion to invest in cryptos. They could literally invest enough money into every single crypto out there to be able to control it. If there was a group of smart rich people looking into this 8 years ago, they would have joined forces by now.

Quite a dump the past week. Perfect time to stock up on some low cost, short term coins to ride lows and highs.
