He tried to commit suicide with pills, but was discovered by his wife and mother-in-law, taken to hospital and stomach pumped. He survived. Being a fairly high-profile lawyer helped him pursuade the hospital to let him out later the same day, instead of holding him for 2 weeks psych evaluation which would have been the normal procedure. So, later the same day, he went home, walked into the house past his wife and mother-in-law, grabbed a knife from the kitchen table and ran outside and despite a major police search of the local area he wasn't found. The next morning, he was found in a dark part of the back shared courtyard area with the knife in his heart. I mentioned this, later, to a friend who is a doctor and police forensics expert and he told me that it is, in fact, not an uncommon choice of suicide method for men. So, I'm not saying the orthopedic surgeon couldn't have been murdered, just that the method doesn't *automatically* suggest that he was. |
