So how come a single battery charge only lasts about 200 miles today?

'On this day, the longest road trip completed on a single battery charge ended. David Turner and Tim Pickard arrived in John oí Groatís, Scotland, the northernmost point in Great Britain. They had set out four days earlier from Landís End, the southernmost point in Britain, in a battery-powered Freight Rover.'

I remember seeing a Popular Mechanics Magazine I believe that had a solar paneled car that drove some great distance, coast to coast I believe.... this was in the 70ís I think. We had cars get 35 mpg in the 80ís and now thereís very few gas vehicles that get 30 mpg except hybrids... itís really all about efficiency and whereís the improvement ?
