So... have I got this right? They used the egg of a 18 month old, and fertilized it??? I mean maybe my reading skills are off, or I missed something, but that's how I understand it.

Why would they do that??? You can't know if there's fertility problems at that age. How would they even harvest the eggs of a child like that? I mean the eggs aren't even ripe yet. If I read properly... Than I'm mad as F*ck, because she didn't have any say, and this was done... just to see if it could be... the "because we can" mentality.

I have nothing against this procedure if it is done with the eggs, and sperm of adults with the consent of the adults contributing the dna material ... but a child??? Hell no.
