Colder air makes more power so lets see him run this at the gator nationals...in the nhra ....in the heat. 2.In order for this to be a record he must have backed up that run, 1 run does not set a record, you must be able to turn the car around after a rebuild and back it up for it to be official. 3. There is no doubt this was one hell of a run, but it was a bye run, less see him do it with the pressure of competition...then ill be impressed. 4.I would have to dig into it, but years ago the difference between nhra and ihra rules packages where not even close for top fuel. 5.With it being a bye run im guessin it was and exhibition run where rules go out the window so.... If you listen to that mill it took it about .05 seconds to hit peak power RPM and the rest of the trip was just letting the tires catch up. I grew up in the days when the common wisdom was that it was impossible for a AA/FD to break 7 seconds but they were on 12 wide hard rubber slicks aired up to 20 psi and single disc clutches, could never have known the science that goes into todays rides. |

Neeun User ID: 40171662 United States 12/23/2017 12:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | BTW the national record is currently held by Leah Pritchett with a 3.64 elapsed time with a 335 speed thru the traps. The 338 is nice but was not backed up apparently, and the 4.48 time is not that impressive considering the time Leah ran. Maybe this is the best from IHRA? Sorry I dont follow the 2nd rate series of mostly chumps who could not hang in the NHRA lol Legal Disclaimer: All comments are intended as humor and/or fiction and not advice, and not to be confused with any event or person, living or dead. |

They have to bolt the rims to the tires to keep them from slipping. Hard to believe they run at 5 psi. If they fold under the car shakes so hard it can crash. The tech is they are 14" or so wide for traction at launch then grow tall to only 10" wide to change the gear ration for 300 MPH speed. |

The super soft sidewalls and lower pressure allows a longer contact patch that compensates for the narrowing as the tire gets taller with RPM - freaked me out the first few times I saw it in action. |

It was probably just as well they were struggling to get 1200 ponies out of them without blowing up. |

In electric motor technology, you get maximum torque at all of the RPM range. Add amp trap traction control, and AWD.... Traction is a non issue. But I love the small of nitromethane... |
