Breaking: Manafort sues Mueller, Rosenstein, and Department of Justice

The Manafort lawsuit alleges Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Mueller have unlawfully exceeded the authorities allowed under the law governing special counsel appointments.

The lawsuit contends that the order Rosenstein signed to appoint Mueller "exceeds the scope of Mr. Rosenstein's authority to appoint special counsel as well as specific restrictions on the scope of such appointments."


The focus is on a part of the Rosenstein order that says that Mueller may investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation."

The Manafort lawyers say that goes beyond what the law allows Rosenstein to empower Mueller to do.

In a court filing, lawyers for Manafort argue that the order establishing Mueller's investigation is overly broad and not permitted under Justice Department regulations.

A spokesman for the Department of Justice said, "The lawsuit is frivolous but the defendant is entitled to file whatever he wants."

The Special Counsel declined comment.

There is so much info on the investigation being corrupt, what’s curious is why it still ongoing.....

I hope he wins. Winning would be a crack in the Mueller probe that won't be fixable.

If he were to abandon the investigation, it will look bad, if he continues the investigation it will still look bad.

I honestly don't believe he knows what to do besides keep the investigation ongoing & keep his paymasters happy, but yea it's all fucked & the FBI looks retarded now..

Regular garden variety Americans, even libs and dems, thought that the early morning raid where they made nasty comments about the guy's "fine italian suits" was beyond the pale.

Guess the lawyers felt the same way.

When Meuller and co. is being paid millions to investigate Russian interference, it's a complete wast of time and money to go after anyone for something unrelated and old. It's totally our of Mueller's jurisdiction.

It is possible that they have compiled copious amounts of evidence against the investigators and those they were investigating. Seriously doubt, with sooooo many leaks coming out of the investigation that there isn't an investigation of the investigation.

Bet the outcome in the end will be hillarious and the libs/dems won't be able to spin a thing.

Watching that fat guy try and tell tucker last night that the President colluded with the russians and is running scared about everything coming out was laughable but also quite frightening as the guy appeared to completely believe everything he was saying.

This is excellent because a court will now have to rule on all of these points, and in no way does this constitute political interference in the Special Counsel appointment or investigative process.

I watched that. The guy is crazy and has a way to twist things that even he believes what he says....

I see him on there a lot and whats interesting to watch is when Tucker pins him with a truth bomb - that loon always changes the topic. - pretty funny to watch but also frustrating. I wish Tucker would be harder on those Lib freaks.

Based on the following article, Manafort may have enough skeletons in his closet to keep Mueller busy for years. The problem is that those skeletons took 30+ years to accumulate, and he only worked for Trump for a few weeks.

After reading this article, it's understandable why Manafort and his lawyers are trying to keep Mueller on track with only the claims made against him associated with Trump's campaign.

As a side note, there is conspiracy site, Crazy Days and Nights, that possibly implicates the Marcos in a decades long pedo organization which, by default, may implicate Manafort and thereby the Podestas.

People are so critical of hannity and tucker, yet they have both managed to keep this investigation and all it's bizarre facets, front and center in front of the American people.

Listening to Dr. Savage now try to discuss the bannon scandal as he's calling it.

I don't believe the "statement". But, then again, I only believe what I see on President Trump's twitter.

A "statement from the White House"....where is it? What paper is it on? Who wrote it? Was it sent out by hope hicks and crew, said by sarah or the blonde in the red coat? Could have been written by the cleaning crew for all it's worth.

Good on manafort, start deposing folks, let's get this show on the road!

I'm especially looking forward to the part where Mueller and Rosenstein will face depositions where they will face questions under oath about the role the Steele dossier played in initiating and sustaining the investigation in the first place as part of determining how the investigation came to have such a broad mandate.

Someone needs to put the brakes on this bullshit. Mueller is a partisan hack that should never be trusted to investigate without bias

I read through the filing.

Others have questioned the over broad authority of the Special Counsel in the Russia collusion probe. The suit brings forward the specific violations of authority by Mueller and Rosenstein authorized under several C.F.R.s.

Since he is seeking injunctive relief, it is possible the case could be heard with relative speed. It could also be dismissed with prejudice with relative speed.

However, should it be heard, merit and standing to be found sufficient, it would cause more than a pause in Mueller's investigation.

Mueller will have to answer and show cause why he is acting under proper authority to investigate any crime which is not directly related to the supposed Russian interference of the last election and the president's or his staffs involvement. Rosenstein will have to show he had authority to appoint Mueller and more importantly, to argue the special counsel is operating within the scope of the provisions of appointment.

I would suspect there will be other suits as to the makeup of Mueller's team and their methods - especially if there were indictments of the president or any of his close advisors and family members.

Buckle up your seat belts. You will be witnessing history which, if you are young enough, you will be telling your great, grand children about around the turn of this century.
