Australia has a few dormant volcanoes. There have been a few odd Earthquakes over the last couple of years. i get the feeling it will not be long before dormant will change to active.

Kadovar can be indeed a big problem.

I explain why: Kadovar is located in a region where ocean depth is around 2000 meters deep

Interestingly it seems to be connected of a larger underground structure which also emerges 11km north as the Blup Blup island (also a very small island, only 400 meter tall).

Little is known about both islands, only that they are active. Perhaps they can be part of a submerged 11km wide caldera, which emerges only as the Kadovar and Blup Blup islands.

If that is so, then Kadovar is similar to Krakatoa and to Santorini, and thus there is a risk that an eruption here could go badly wrong. (It´s also worth to note that Krakatoa and Santorini also have many explosive eruptions in between their caldera events)

look at all of these volcanoes going off, and then consider that Sinabung, which is now KNOWN to be erupting Toba's magma by the way, is EXPECTED to have a large eruption 'this year'

To widen the scope of the thread, here are some recent concerns. The total of the volcanic activity around the world is the problem. Not one volcano exploding with a massive explosion but the cumulative effect from all volcanoes throwing sulfur in the air. The ramifications go from 'a year without a summer" to an ice age that lasts 100,000 years. Starting this winter we are heading into the ice age.

Are there any actual raw numbers of the increase in volcanic activity in the last 10 years compared to 100+ years prior?

I would love to see that data if so. I would guess it's at least a 20-30% increase, which in planetary terms would be a HUGE jump. I've heard rumors it's well over a 100% increase compared to decades past, which would support the concept that we are in the midst of the 6th extinction and life on Earth as we know it will soon be over.

I agree except the shills are gonna tell you that before there wasn't any network of information so the news were not coming as fast as now... So the data are not very accurate before the 50's, I don't think that people were even aware of volcanoes as far as Alaska or remote area as the Kamchatka volcanoes in Russia

I think a full on Doomcano within our lifetimes would be rather interesting, personally, but I don't hold up much hope for it.
