Flash Flood in Australia on November 06 2018 08:50 AM (UTC).

Roads became rivers in Melbourne on Tuesday, November 6, when over a month's worth of rain fell in the space of a few hours. Bureau of Meteorology recorded 35 mm of rain in the Melbourne city gauge between 9 am and noon, which they said was more rain than the September and October record combined.

Thunderstorms were forecast for much of Victoria throughout the day. Punters at the Melbourne Cup faced disruption when roads around the racecourse flooded and the railway station closed due to flooding. ...

The culprit is a strong area of Canadian Arctic high pressure -- typical winter pattern -- but a bit early in mid-November. Record cold possible.

Landslide in Dominica on November 09 2018 05:25 PM (UTC).

Several landslides and flooding have been reported as heavy rains lashed Dominica from Thursday into Friday. There is a report of a major landslide on the Bellevue Chopin road, which links a great part of the southern section of the island. On Thursday, a bridge, the Pointe Rounde Bridge, which connects the northern part of Dominica to the rest of the island, was compromised and traffic had to be diverted. ...

...

... Dominica Meteorological Services on Friday morning said lingering moisture and instability are expected to continue to generate cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms across the island chain during the next 24 to 48 hours....

Flash Flood in United Kingdom on November 09 2018 05:06 PM (UTC).

Homes and roads have been flooded and people have been urged to move their vehicles away from rivers as more heavy rain is set to raise water levels. Parts of Pembrokeshire have been badly hit with some homes in Milford Haven under 10ft (3m) of water. A Met Office warning to expect flooding is in force across the county and Carmarthenshire until 23:00 GMT and high tide are at 19:00. Other parts of south and mid-Wales are also at risk of flooding.

Pembrokeshire council said "a number of roads" were flooded and were being dealt with on a "priority basis" while Carmarthenshire council has warned residents and businesses in the St Clears area to be "particularly prepared". Natural Resources Wales said with heavy rain forecast to fall on the already saturated ground, localized flooding and travel disruption could be expected...

...

The amber warning for heavy rain and wind is in place until 23:00, while a yellow warning covers the remainder of south Wales until midnight. Up to 50mm (1.97in) of rain could fall on higher ground, with wind speeds of up to 60mph (95km/h) along with some coasts....

...

This comes just four weeks after Storm Callum caused flooding across south Wales, with several areas badly affected by high winds and heavy rain.

Re: The Weather Thread
In 2017 we saw the most costly damage from weather the United States has ever seen. In the first weeks of 2018 we have seen blizzards and snow from Florida to Maine, 40 degree temperature swings and deadly flooding in California. The crazy, unpredictable weather is being felt and observed by Glp'ers from all over the world.

The goal of this thread is simply to observe, compare and contrast forecasts - to what really ends up happening. Meteorologists are wrong - ALOT. It would seem the weather has been getting harder to predict, and the storms are becoming intense. Here maybe we can piece together the puzzling weather of late. I've been wanting to create this thread for a while, because it baffles me how inaccurate forecasts have been in the past, and even more so as of recently! Here we can have a template of what was predicted, what really happened and maybe it'll help shed light on what we can expect in the future!

Feel free to post anything weather related. From links, to videos to your daily weather forecast and/or observations. The more data the better. I will give daily forecasts for a few cities including my current location. This should be interesting and fun. I'll try my hardest to update here on the regular. But i sure could use some help from you fine GLP weathertards.

Extreme Weather in United Kingdom on November 09 2018 05:08 AM (UTC).

Winds of up to 70mph and heavy rain are set to batter the Devon and Cornwall coast during Thursday evening. Trains have been canceled between Exeter and Newton Abbot with lane closures planned for the Tamar Bridge in Plymouth. Roads have been flooded across Plymouth as rain continues to fall during Tuesday. Howling 70mph winds, rainstorms and flooding will endanger lives, weather watchers Southwest Storm Chasers have warned. The 'severe weather' has forced CrossCountry to cancel all services from Exeter to Newton Abbot between 4.30pm and 9.30pm this evening. ...

Several calls to the office now about thunder being heard near Florissant. This band of snow has intensified, still moving southeast at around 25 mph. Expect very low visibility and a quick accumulation of around 1/2 inch as the band moves through. #stlwx

Well, the squall wasn't quite blizzard-like at my house, but the grass is covered and so are the cars. I'm well south of the area noted above, but I did hear the thunder - more than once. Was faint enough I questioned if that's what it was, until I saw this.

EDIT 2:
OMG blizzard-like here now with very gusty winds, blowing snow ( which had stopped, I thought it was over). Also think I just heard thunder! Woohoo!
