Yeah, I also found that strange. I had posted it over on the EQ thread as you did here, and next thing I know, it was gone! Unless it was debunked as a fake, I don't understand why that would be removed.

This is a historic storm. Not for its amount of snow, but the extreme wind gusts up to 50 mph over such a large area. Not to mention how early in the season and far south it’s hitting. #mowx #kswx #iawx #ilwx

Very impressive totals in southern Iowa with several 10-16” amounts. Widespread 5-10” from northern Kansas thru eastern Iowa. This system is over-performing overall. Northern Illinois will likely see 12-18” in many spots. Thunder snow has also been occurring. #kswx #iawx #mowx

well, I missed out on the blizzard but we've had rain much of the day. Also a rainbow. Coming next it appears we will get hail and blizzard-like winds. It's been an interesting winter thus far!

... Scotland's worst salmon season in living memory. Some beats on famous rivers like the Spey and the Nith recorded not a single salmon caught during the entire season. Just two salmon were caught on the River Fyne in Argyll this year, where once more than 700 were caught each season. The number of fish caught by anglers has been so low that some estates have stopped selling permits for once-popular beats because there is no fish to catch. Tourism has been hit, sales of salmon tackle have slumped and ghillies have lost their jobs.

Experts believe rising temperatures blamed on global warming have badly hit the salmon's feeding grounds with related changes in current patterns also affecting their migration. Roger Brook, director of the Argyll Fisheries Trust, said: "Salmon are in decline everywhere but they're declining more on the west coast of Scotland and they're declining more the further down the west coast you go. Biological Hazard in New Zealand on November 26 2018 07:57 AM (UTC).

More than 100 pilot whales have died after becoming stranded in a remote part of New Zealand. A hiker found the 145 whales in two pods just over a mile apart on Stewart Island, a small island to the south of the country's South Island. They had been half-buried in the sand and around half of them were already dead. The rest were in very bad health and were euthanized, due to the lack of potential rescuers and the difficulty they would have faced in reaching the location.

The whales had been 22 miles from Oban, the main town on Stewart Island, which only has around 400 people. Ren Leppens, Rakiura operations manager at the Department of Conservation, said it had been a "heart-breaking decision to make". He added: "Sadly, the likelihood of being able to successfully re-float the remaining whales was extremely low. "The remote location, lack of nearby personnel and the whales' deteriorating condition meant the most humane thing to do was to euthanize." He thought they had probably been there for a day before being found....

Up to 800 people have been told to leave their homes in Deepwater and Baffle Creek immediately as a "dangerous and unpredictable" bushfire bears down on their communities. Firefighters and police have been doorknocking in the communities north of Bundaberg since midday on Sunday, warning locals of the ongoing threat. At least one home has already been lost and authorities expect the fire, which is 50 kilometers long, to burn for days. Speaking from Emergency Management Queensland in Brisbane,

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the size of the fire was causing problems for crews. "The intensity of this fire covers some 9,000 hectares, and the flames are more than 10 to 12 meters high," Ms. Palaszczuk said. Torrential downpours and flash floods brought four hours of widespread chaos to much of the country on Monday as Dubai police responded to 150 road accidents and more than 2,500 emergency calls. No serious injuries were reported after thunderstorms and lightning strikes battered much of the UAE overnight on Sunday and early into Monday morning.

Many roads were submerged after some of the worst storms in recent years forced parts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi to a standstill. Collisions between vehicles during a hectic morning on the roads were largely blamed on standing water, poor visibility and inexperienced motorists driving too fast in treacherous conditions. ...

Extreme Weather in China on November 27 2018 12:33 PM (UTC).


A city in northwest China has been engulfed by a massive sandstorm. A grey wall of sand hit Zhangye City in Gansu province yesterday, casting a yellow fog across the city. Visibility went below 100 meters in parts of the city and police were deployed to ensure safety along the expressways, local media said. Winds also sparked fires in rural areas when heating kindle was blown onto haystacks....

Snow Storm (Blizzard) in USA on November 27 2018 12:45 PM (UTC).

The first major blizzard of the season left thousands of travelers stranded, kept tens of thousands of students home from school and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands to homes and businesses. The 13.1 inches of snow that fell in McHenry County north of Chicago was the most in the region. The National Weather Service says 11.7 inches fell in Rockford - a total that shattered the record for a single day in November...

Extreme Weather in Australia on November 28 2018 04:44 AM (UTC).

Sydney residents are being urged to "batten down the hatches" as torrential rain floods the city. The New South Wales capital received over 100mm of rain in mere hours on Wednesday morning, around 20mm more than the usual average for the whole of November. Local police have sent stern warnings to residents to be extra careful on the roads and not attempt to drive along flooded streets. Meanwhile, those that were hoping to leave the city have been trapped in the airport, with only one runway in operation.

Passengers have been forced to wait for the storm to pass, with 20 flights cancelled or delayed. Not only has the rain flooded the city, but the severity of the storm has caused power outages across much of Sydney with Ausgrid confirming via Twitter over 5,200 customers are still waiting for power to be restored. Many residents have taken to social media to share incredible photos and videos of the storm, as they attempted to travel to work. Cars can be seen slowly moving down streets with water reaching well above the tyres on some of the vehicles...

The rain comes just a week after Sydney was hit with a massive dust storm that blanketed areas of NSW mirroring the major storm in 2009, which saw thousands of tons of dirt and soil lifted and dumped in the Sydney Harbour. Many took the opportunity to capture the spectacular scene as the blanket of dust travelled through their towns and properties as it headed east....
