Heat Wave in Lithuania on June 13 2019 01:11 PM (UTC).

Six people seeking relief from record heat in Lithuania have drowned, and hundreds have sought medical help as temperatures soared. The nation of 2.8 million hasn't seen rain for many weeks and a new June all-time heat record of 35.7 degrees Celsius (96 F) was reached in the central Lithuanian city of Kaisiadorys on Wednesday when six people drowned in rivers and lakes.

The average daily temperature has remained above 31 Celsius for more than a week. Meteorologists said Thursday that temperatures were expected to hit 36 C in several regions on Thursday. Extreme heat has led rivers and creeks to reach their lowest levers ever recorded for June and water supply to many households in major cities has been limited. Schools were closed in many cities this week...

Passing thunderstorms over the office produced an incredible display of mammatus clouds over our radar. These clouds form as cool air sinks on the underside of a thunderstorm.

Volcano Activity in Russia on June 14 2019 12:15 PM (UTC).

A volcano in the far eastern corner of Russia that was previously considered extinct may be waking up -- and an eruption could be catastrophic. The Bolshaya Udina volcano -- part of the Kamchatka Peninsula's Udina volcanic complex -- was believed to be extinct until 2017, when increasing seismic activity was detected beneath it, scientists say.

Now, Ivan Koulakov, a geophysicist from Russia's A.A. Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics who led a study into the volcano, believes it should be reclassified as active. ""At any moment, an eruption can occur,...

Critical Infrastructure Disruption in India on June 13 2019 01:22 PM (UTC).

Hundreds of Indian villages have been evacuated as historic drought forces families to abandon their homes in search of water. The country has seen extremely high temperatures in recent weeks. On Monday the capital, Delhi, saw its highest ever June temperature of 48C. In Rajasthan, the city of Churu recently experienced highs of 50.8C, making it the hottest place on the planet.

Further south, less than 250 miles from the country's commercial capital, Mumbai, village after village lies deserted. Estimates suggest up to 90% of the area's population has fled, leaving the sick and elderly to fend for themselves in the face of a water crisis that shows no sign of abating. The village of Hatkarwadi, about 20 miles from Beed in Maharashtra state, is almost completely deserted. Wells and handpumps have run dry in the 45C heatwave.

The drought, which officials say is worse than the 1972 famine that affected 25 million people across the state, began early in December....

"The teams surveyed parts of north Fort Worth, North Richland Hills and Arlington, and a path of damage in the Euless, Irving and Farmers Branch areas.

About 95,000 customers in North Texas were without power after Sunday’s storms, but by Monday afternoon, that number had dropped to fewer than 8,000, according to Oncor."

More storms and rain overnight through this morning. Patio furniture down again. It was supposed to stop around sunrise but they said on the news this morning that a band of storms popped up behind it that none of the models predicted. We've had soaking rain all morning and it's going to continue into the afternoon. Flash flood warnings all over the metro.
