Moving to the US Virgin Islands!
I just got the word I got the job managing work crews from the US that are down there doing reconstruction after the hurricane. I have partnership in what will turn into multiple companies in the Caribbean region.
Enough about that shit! I have never lived in the tropics and looking for advice, although I have lived in Florida multiple times, never the island life.
If anyone has ever been there would love to hear your experiences. Leaving brutally cold West Michigan and really excited for this opportunity!

My friend lived on St. John for 35 years.
You will be hiring the locals born on the islands and you will like it.
Or you won't be doing business in the USVI.

Re: Moving to the US Virgin Islands!
I lived in st Thomas for 4 years. It was fun because I was the only 20 something white male on the island that made over $200k. I had a lot of fun.

Crime is horrendous though. The blacks are horrible and will openly hate on you. Spit in your food and shit.

One word of advice, use the phrase “Good Morning” with all black locals. Even if it’s in the afternoon. It has a hypnotic effect on them that instantly makes them friendly. It’s like a code word for locals.

Don’t go into the ghettos at night. Or in the day time. Firearms are illegal there but all the crooks have them. Don’t get in a car accident because the black paramedics will let you die in the street while they watch and laugh.

I have tons of advice.

Go there, hire some locals.
Rebuild. Take you piece.
Make some friends.
Buy some land.
Go to "Bomba's Shack" and sip some tea....
You'll never leave...
Best of luck.

Don’t sleep with a local black.

They are infested with horrible STD’s and the AIDS rate among blacks on STT is like 70%.

Run to the UK, it's only an island away ;)

Nah, joking.

My guess is don't drink the water, expect high prices, avoid the native neighborhoods. But that's just general island life from all over the globe.
I don't know what lies they told you, but I can promise they were lies.

Silencing yourself and living in the dark just means you've left yourself exposed to the type of people who wander the dark looking for victims who won't scream.

Carnival is a gas, but always keep yer wallet in yer front pocket.

On St Thomas, never buy smoke by the harbor. Instead, go up in the hills.

Magen's Bay is a nice spot to relax.

thank you. i was fortunate that i got to grow up with both the farm life and beach, i am really looking forward to checking it all out. plan on volunteering a lot cleaning beaches and trails on St Johns, which is where i will be living
i want to get plugged into the local scene but keep a low profile. i will be the one hiring locals and developing training programs, plus managing day to day operations

Make sure to wear your mutherfucking MAGA hat.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

One thing I can assure is - "Island time" might give you a heart attack until you adjust. They have NO concept of time or timeliness.

Good Luck.

Cool!

A little island advice - treat it as a small town - everyone knows everyone else's business and they are all related.
“If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.”
Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace

"But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. Thompson

A lot of beach bars on Tortola hold Full Moon Parties, but Bomba’s Surfside Shack at the West End of Cappoons Bay is the mother of all full moon parties in the entire British Virgin Islands. The celebration is notorious in part, thanks to the shack’s wild and unsheltered ambience, but the real star of the show is their magic mushroom tea. If you get the opportunity to visit Bomba’s Surfside Shack during a full moon, you’ll quickly learn why Bomba’s Surfside Shack and its unique lunar festivities draw tourists from all over the world.

I am looking forward to unplugging from the rest of the world for awhile, things are so damn crazy right now, I figured I would take this opportunity to take a time out , try to adjust to island time, eat healthy , continue to train, see the sun, and make some damn good money

I will be working a lot with solar power and the new Tesla solar tiles for roofs, that will be coming available in select regions in a few months, one of our companies was a test center

While this may not be as entertaining or exciting as being gutted in a parking lot, it is also important. LOL

Carry bug repellant. Use it every morning. Make sure you always have it on you. There are an untold number of illnesses that are carried by mosquitos- and many of them will literally kill you- or make you wish you were dead.
