Top London primary school backs down from ban on hijabs for girls under eight as says the move would 'curb freedom of religious expression
A top East London primary school has backed down just days after it banned girls under eight from wearing hijabs.

St Stephen's primary school in Newham had said it was making the change to make pupils feel more integrated but now appears to have changed course. A note on the school's website on Friday said that the school now had a 'deeper understanding of the matter' and had 'decided to reverse our position with immediate effect'.

The chair of the school's governing body, Arif Qawi, also resigned after a backlash against the ban which he had championed

Wonder what the school curriculum is..
How to treat acid attacks
The wonder of female genital mutilation
How to treat your husband's other wives..

Can't believe this is happening in a civilized western country in 2018.

bu,bu,but a hijab is a mark of womanhood, and signifies she is ready to get married and give birth to children. So this school promotes pedophilia.

I don't know if the hijab is inappropriate in the middle eastern culture for young girls. If it is, that's their issue within their own culture.

I hate the Muslim invasion as much as anyone and think they should all be shipped back. If citizenships can be revoked, do it. Things change after all, and they were never ever concerned about OUR human rights.

That said, I don't get the ban on hijab. It's just modest dressing. My mother used to wear a scarf back in the 60's or so, it was not uncommon. About the only thing I like about Islam is that women dress modestly. (And that may be what feminists hate even though they like the invasion aspect of it.)

Please go back to your shithole countries and work on fixing them. Stop trying to invade ours. Thanks.
