President Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he was open to breaking his immigration commitment by giving a pathway to U.S. citizenship to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded from deportation by the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.


In statements outside the White House, Trump told the Associated Press (AP) that he would be open to giving U.S. citizenship to DACA illegal aliens, saying “It’s going to happen.”

In another break of commitment, Trump said he was open to potentially extending the DACA program beyond its March 5 deadline of when Attorney General Jeff Sessions said it would officially end.

Granting a pathway to U.S. citizenship to DACA illegal aliens would break Trump’s long-held campaign promise that no amnesty for illegal aliens would be granted until illegal immigration to the U.S. was fully ended.

In Trump’s historic 2016 immigration speech, he specifically said “There will be no amnesty.”

WH Plan: Big Amnesty Now, Nothing for Americans Until 2027

President Donald Trump’s new “framework” amnesty plan would provide citizenship to at least 1.8 million illegals — but would not allow any beneficial reduction in cheap-labor immigration until 2027.
The pro-business plan, leaked to Washington insiders this afternoon, asks progressive Democrats and business-first Republicans to accept a trade-off: Amnesty for at least 1.8 million illegals in exchange for a border wall, end chain-migration and ending the visa lottery.

But the loopholes are huge — and those loopholes will flood the labor market for another decade, so helping Wall Street by cooling the current worker shortage which is now raising Americans’ wages.

“Everybody gets in,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “It will be eight to 10 years before there’s any reduction in immigration numbers.”

A one-year grace period for chain-migration people is understandable, he said. “But for everybody on the waiting list to be able to come? That is absurd.”

I believe Breitbart News has been anti-Trump from before Bannon joined the Team. Steve Bannon was always playing devil's advocate to the audience and I never fully grasped his support for Trump. Then he was invited to the team, and I was confused by this move. Look at what happened to Bannon. He was subpoenaed by Mueller's investigation. Not much on that front.

Democrats Reject Trump’s Amnesty Deal, But Pocket Concessions on ‘Dreamers’


Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) emphatically rejected the White House’s proposed terms for a deal to legalize the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which leaked to the media ahead of schedule Thursday.
President Donald Trump’s proposal would provide a 10-12 year “path to citizenship” for 1.8 million so-called “Dreamers” — illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as children — over and above the 800,000 DACA beneficiaries. In return, it would demand $25 billion for immediate construction of a border wall, as well as an end to chain migration and the diversity visa lottery program.

Durbin released the following statement rejecting the deal — but accepting Trump’s concession on 1.8 million “Dreamers” and the “path to citizenship”:

Dreamers should not be held hostage to President Trump’s crusade to tear families apart and waste billions of American tax dollars on an ineffective wall. After four and a half months, his Administration finally says it has a plan to solve the crisis he created when he ended DACA. The White House claims to be compromising because the President now agrees with the overwhelming majority of Americans that Dreamers should have a pathway to citizenship. But his plan would put the Administration’s entire hardline immigration agenda — including massive cuts to legal immigration — on the backs of these young people.

Republicans have just fourteen days to work with Democrats to reach a bipartisan agreement to pass the Dream Act and solve the DACA crisis. The President himself acknowledged two weeks ago that this must be addressed first, before any attempt to turn to comprehensive immigration reform. Bipartisan negotiations continue in Congress to get that done now.

They are not anti-amnesty, they say almost daily that over half of the Conservatives probably are sympathetic to DACA and Dreamers and would likely agree with some sort of amnesty even though most callers say they are against it. I listen to SIRIUSXM every day. My ears don't lie.
