China has 1 Aircraft Carrier in the "fit out" stage right now ... AND 3 more under construction. Unlike the US they have a HUGE amount shipbuilding shipyard capacity. The US has very little anymore. "IF" China wants to ramp up it's Navy it could have more ships in each class in 10 years than the US has or will have, even starting from a very low base of existing ships.

China has a vastly larger Merchant Marine Fleet than the US, more than 20x the last I recall reading. I doubt if we even have enough torpedoes to even devote one torpedo to each ocean freighter that they have.

On the advanced weapons front China is moving fast ... and developing weapons that are even beyond those that the US is working on developing. It's science and scientist are now very good and it's manufacturing capacity can crank out high tech items on a vast scale, not just low tech items. (where was YOUR high tech cell phone built? just an example)

Do NOT underestimate the economic and potential military power of China. Russia is a total backwater compared to China except for a few newer high tech weaponry items

Several years ago I had a dream China invaded Texas via Mexico. They had already conquered Texas and I was one of the few remaining Texans left alive. I was hiding in a cornfield and the Chinese were sweeping through it. One of the Chinese soldiers found me and shot me in the head without hesitation. I am pretty sure it was a kill shot, but fortunately I woke up alive.

Beijing isn't going to try to invade the U.S.

Because they are smart enough to know that they would be:

1. invading their economy's largest "customer", which means they'd be destroying a huge part of their own economic base.

2. Risking catastrophic losses to their own cities and population.

3. attempting a logistical nightmare (as mentioned elsewhere on this thread).

4. tempting a nuclear weapon attack from our weapons systems.

5. tempting a "God's Rods" attack on Beijing.
