A bit of heaven, or even the knowledge that there is some kind of heaven to look forward to and work for, will push one to strive for something more than just malicious and parasitic behavior. Too much heaven will lead to zero ambition and laziness, resulting again, in chaos and stagnation. A bit of hell, and the knowledge that hell is very much possible, will allow one to remain on their toes, always prepared for the changes to come in their lives. EDIT: I think going through heaven and hell is necessary to create a truly balanced individual.
