I remember that my mother belonged to DAR and a woman's group which was a "female" (only) version of the Masons. She was quite active in it. The lodge was fairly large and had a kitchen and dinning hall where they held dinners for themselves and families, which were quite the events. There was also a meeting hall which only members were allowed into. Once as a small kid I was up there with my mother who was helping to prepare for one of their big family dinners.
I was snooping around and discovered the door to the meeting room was open. And wandered into it. It was the MOST beautiful room I had ever seen. My mother found me and was more than mildly angry. I don't remember the name of the group but seems like it had the word "sisters" in it.
I would love to know if anyone else knows of this group and if it still exists? As I have not heard of it in decades.
