Take care of your teeth in the first place, and you don't need expensive dental work. Pay cash and most dentists will give you a big discount. There are also charities that will help, in most cities.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Yea,you have to go to the teaching hospital not to private doctor, they charge twice less for such thing like implant. You may qualify for sliding scale program in such hospitals, so visit to doctor may you cost as low as 35$ For any work, however you pay for root c. Or crown or implant less that any private doctor charges.

Cash, check or credit card. And shop around if your dentist wants to do a lot of high-priced work. I usually don't go back, and then my next dentist doesn't even notice that I didn't have the work done that the previous dentist recommended.

I'm 43 and saved my whole life, and I observe excellent nutrition so that I don't need a dentist much. That's how I plan to go about it.

It's a good start, but just wait 25 years. You'll have increasing dental bills. Some will hit all at once, and some is just every six months, but teeth don't regenerate easily.

I'm over the 120% poverty line but I still struggle in life, even though I live alone.

I was approved by CreditCare, but with their 29.99% interest rate, that's a Mafia type loan.

Not only this, but complete reconstructive costs are 45k with a loan that is impossible to pay for the rest of your life (and that doesn't even include the additional interest on top of this with using CreditCare or other such loans to subsidize the final costs).

I guess there's always the special rate of somewhere near 35k if you have that type of immediate cash in your back pocket.

Is it just not possible anymore?

Is there any way to get through such a horrible system?

I'll never understand how dental or eyes will never be covered with even a premium health policy in the US.

For each of those two conditions, you need more insurance and more money. :(

Dental colleges provide care for a pittance. You are basically used to train future dentists, with oversight by a licensed clinician. In a pinch, this may help you immensely.
