The sad thing about listening to Pink Floyd is

My favorite song by Pink Floyd is "Silent Lucidity".

Seriously, Pink Floyd is mostly extremely boring. Some corpse slumped over on a casio. Any time they have an interesting hook, they end the song way to early.

It's funny that you're sick of Pink Floyd. I have the same problem with Led Zeppelin.

Funny, though, that I never, ever tire of Black Sabbath or The Beatles.

That's why after I said that, I said "Seriously..."

That means the previous thing I said was not serious.

However, Silent Lucidity is indistinguishable from Pink Floyd. Well, except at it's better.

Pink Floyd is the ultimate band to relax to while smoking a doobie. I don't smoke anymore but if I did I'd listen to some Pink Floyd and relax. I would also say its good for shrooms too but I don't do that either.

Ya, I know right? and with such a range of styles too.. This album is a bit more obscure, as it's a soundtrack

I miss the full shows...brit floyd can get you by in a pinch but you are right...the music is over. Hey at least we got a chance in this timeline for everything to line up right for them to make it!

Waters and Gilmour are both still alive and performing. Chances they re-unite and record one more album for posterity is slim to none, but there is always hope.

Ugh, I totally know what you mean. I freaking love Pink Floyd. And actually, I know I haven't heard all of their albums, so it's possible for me to still discover more Pink Floyd music I haven't heard before, if I ever get around to it.

But your post made me think of a band I used to listen to in college that was inspired by Pink Floyd. I've been digging up some old music today, I may as well dig up another.

They are called Impossible Recording Machine. Made up of Matt Walker (Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Filter, Cupcakes) and Jim Dinou (Exo) blend an array of influences from pop to abstract into their own unique sound.

I used to like Pink Floyd - 30 years ago! I can't listen to them any longer. Much like Skynyrd and Zepplin. Getting to be that way with VH also.

Meddle was fuckin' fantastic!

Of course there was "Echos"...but I think my favorite was either "fearless" or "A pillow of winds".

And all you ever hear on the radio is "we don't need no education"...UGH!

I have to say, the "newer" stuff with david gilmoure playing live is pretty intense!

This is one of my favorites of Roger Waters solo. Eric Clapton is on guitar and he rips it.




The concept, as envisioned by Waters in 1977, rotated around a man's scattered thoughts during a road trip through California, focusing on his midlife crisis, and how he dreams of committing adultery with a hitchhiker he picks up along the way. Along the way he also faces other fears and paranoia, with all of these things taking place in real time in the early morning hours of 04:30:18 am to 05:12 am on an unspecified day.

Meddle was actually their first decent album. Most everything before that kind of sucked ass. It's good they got rid of syd barrett.

Hahah, Silent Lucidity sounds nothing like Floyd if you know what Floyd sounds like. Have you only ever heard The Wall or something?
