Prophecy is often given as a warning.
Warnings can be noted and acted on, thus preventing the prophecy.
A failed prophecy is the mark of a successful Prophet. Think on that!

A false prophet is one who has given a prophecy that DOES NOT come to pass.The trouble is, HOW MUCH TIME HAS TO PASS before one can say the prophecy was false because it did not come to pass?!? Prophecies concerning Jesus' time on earth were given for over 2000 years before some of THEM came true. just sayin' A prophecy, a real one, has two parts, gloom and doom and hope. A true prophecy comes to pass but the gloom and doom can be lessened by the prophet pleading with God, and therein lies the hope that the worst can be mitigated. That's what I understood from the post. I disagree. A prophecy is like a tossed coin. Depending on your perspective it either works in your favour or it doesn't. Pre-empting you are going to lose or win the toss beforehand only reflects on you. Of course if you know the coin is 'loaded' you have an advantage. But you can only know that for sure if you loaded the coin yourself and it hasn't been out of your sight.
