Scientists in battle over climate DVD

Prominent London scientists have launched a battle to stop a DVD of a controversial TV show on climate change, it has emerged.
The experts claim The Great Global Warming Swindle, which aired on Channel 4 in March, contained major misrepresentations about the science of global warming.
The documentary claimed the Earth’s climate is always changing and had nothing to do with humans.
And that rises in the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are the result of increased temperatures, not the other way round.
A letter signed on behalf of 37 climate and earth scientists from Britain and the US was sent to Martin Durkin, the head of WAGtv, protesting at plans to distribute DVDs of the programme.
At least six of the signatories are based at research centres in the capital.
They include Professor Nigel Bell of Imperial College and Dr Anson Mackay of UCL among other luminaries.
The letter asserts that distribution of the DVD would not be in the public interest because of alleged inaccuracies within it. The scientists said: “The programme misrepresented both the scientific evidence and the interpretations of researchers that have been documented in the scientific literature when it was broadcast last month.”
The programme is the subject of a number of complaints to both Channel 4 and Ofcom, with the latter receiving at least 246 complaints about the show, according to reports.
Durkin, head of WAGtv, said: “I don’t believe they are interested in ‘adequate quality control’ when it comes to the reporting of science, or in a ‘balanced debate’ about the issues. Too many scientists have staked their reputations and built their careers on global warming.
“There’s a hell of a lot riding on this ridiculous theory.”

I believe climate change is mostly natural and the whole thing is exaggerated to create a lucrative global warming-related industry.
