"Former (Lord, I love saying that) President Barack Obama had signed an order releasing the 1911s and Garands to the CMP in theory, but never actually made them available (surprise, surprise), and shooters despaired the guns would never find their way to the U.S. Worry no more!"

Shssss -- Don't tell Hitler

CMP will be expensive. And I need two if I want to go back to my youth, running the perimeter with them raised over my head screaming "I like it.". Beats the hell out of KP.

Cabellas has a new lighter fold stock copy in their gun rooms, that is cheaper than CMP.

You need the weight for 300 meter shots.

Would LOVE to have one of those!
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

hesrightMaybe one of the most moronic statements I've read on here."It's too heavy for a weapon".as it was used as a weapon countless times. It's like saying a Lincoln Continental is to heavy to actually move ,but it's good to just park it in garage and look at it.

Barrel and stock are way to heavy compared to an AR for field use.

Not really. Do you know what an AR15 weighs versus a Garand? It's like 2lbs. deference. A fucking m249 saw is 20+ lbs.

30.06 (full battle rifle) compared to the 5.56mm (intermediate rifle cartridge) is like a Prius vs.a Kenworth.

30.06 turns "cover" into "concealment".

Still a very popular gun with Israeli police officers for its superior stopping power compared to an AR-15.

When I lived on an Israeli Kibbutz in the 80s, we had a number of weapons to draw from on the kibbutz armoury.

M1 Garand, FN carbine, M14, AK-47, Uzi SMG, or M16.

The AKs, Uzis, and M1s were the most popular. I took an AK.

Gen. George Patton called the M-1 rifle "the greatest battlefield implement ever devised." The only problem is that it had an internal magazine, 8 rd, I think, the loading which was facilitated with a clip holding 8 rds of 30.06 together to be inserted from the top.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You probably believe USAToday's bullshit about chainsaw bayonets for the AR-15, too.
