Re: Americans, serious question.. gun ban....
I think the biggest issue with these kinds of topics is foreigners are clueless about the USA republic as well as our history.

The USA is 40 x larger than the UK in land mass.
The USA has a population of 330 million.
The UK has a population of 65 million.

We are not uniform as citizens, but incredibly diverse, so never make the mistake of presuming that "Americans" can be made generic in ideology, ethnicity, sexuality, spirituality, etc.

We are so spread out that even if firearm confiscation were tried, owners would simply hide them in caches along with ammunition.

Never compare the USA to other nations as it is apples and oranges.

The only way the antifederalists would agree to the Federal Constitution was with a Bill of Rights. These rights are labeled "natural rights" ie assigned by God or Nature. These natural rights are inherent ie assigned at birth. Likewise they are inalienable ie CANNOT be removed.

They are NOT civil rights. Anyone mixing up the two terms already has lost the debate.

They are not priviledges either ie do not require licensure.

Now not only is there a Federal Constitution, but there are natural right guarantees in all 50 states regarding the right to OWN ie purchase as private property as well as BEAR ie carry "ARMS". That terminology technically applied to all arm that were carried by citizens especially in wartime ie swords, daggers, rifles, etc.

But it also meant that each citizen had the natural right to defend themselves from harm from oppression even including a hostile government. In fact, the Declaration of Independence I specifically claiming the natural right of the people to rise up and overthrow oppressive governments.

It is a RADICAL concept not made for milksops.

What is more, to amend the Constitution requires 2/3 of the state legislatures to overturn something like the 2nd Amendment which would immediately mean that those states would have to overturn their own state constitutions as well!

To even try such a feat as overturning the 2nd Amendment would cause the worst civil war in history. If you think Afghanistan is bad given its incredible length of partisan conflict, magnify that a thousand fold.

There are 300 million firearms estimated not including spare parts. We have countless reloaders who can create new ammunition. We have ammunition caches. We can easily make inexpensive arms as well.

It is impossible.

Re: Americans, serious question.. gun ban....
In essence, it would be easier to try to abolish the natural right to free speech than to foolishly attempt to abolish the right to own and bear "arms".

In American legislative and judicial history, gun bans have almost always been overturned in time. It simply takes time to work its way through to the Supreme Court.

In all cases, the 2nd Amendment has been interpreted as the natural rights of the People NOT specific to militias.

What is more, in American history, a militia was NOT the organized professional army. Any student of history knows this.

So many existing pieces of legislation which restrict firearm ownership and restrict "bearing" ie carrying firearms ultimately are unconstitutional.

Which is why leftist try restricting ammunition.

Re: Americans, serious question.. gun ban....
its not that easy. It would require vote of 2/3's of the states voting in favor. Potus cannot do it himself. Amendments are very hard to change
 Quoting: overwatch

But if government/elite's want that changed, they will have it changed regardless how the voting works out, they rig everything to the favour.

I ask this cos i love americans, i believe in your rights and you must stand by them.

But i can see this leading to a mass loss of life, if military open fire on those who do not hand over..
But then again if you open fire back, yeah they lose too..

I dont think many understand how much of a huge deal this is for the Usa and the people.
 Quoting: UKTruther

If the elite wanted guns banned, they would have let Hillary take the presidency.

Forget about the votes, the real reason Hillary is not president is because the elite don't want to risk losing power because a civil war would have ensued. Her recklessness and arrogance guarantees that.

So I'm very sure it will never come down to removing guns because the elite want to stay in power.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74717285

That always makes me wretch....the elite.

I don't want to use a gun. I want to use a knife to gut them slowly and watch the life slip from their eyes while twisting side to side.

Something about my hands covered in their blood so I can smell it while watching them die..Christmas.

Is that bad?

Gonna ban my Ka-Bar?
 Quoting: Affable Serpent

No that's not bad most people feel that way i'm sure you're neighbors have you're back you have theirs. Thats the way it'll be for now on even if they dont pass it. It just grew people together even more with or without Trump banning or not. A part of me thinks Trump is tagging them on to buy more time but i could be wrong he hasnt indited Harry clits yet.

Now compare the population density of the UK to the population density of the USA. Many foreigners recoil at so many guns but never look at the population density.

The others live in densely populated areas and hence they are appalled by the prospect of 300 million guns but fail to discuss our immense physical size.

What is more telling is the miniscule amount of firearm crimes by comparison as nearly all legal gun owners use them responsibly and neither commit crimes nor harm others nor harm themselves.

In fact, the so called nebulous term "assault rifle" which is not definable as a term but as a quasi category, actually has such a miniscule number involved in crimes as to be insignificant over all.

Which results in paranoia and fear based knee jerk hysteria to legislate a "tool" which by and large is so minimally utilized as to make the debate ridiculous.

It really is as moronic as banning hammers because 12 are used among 330 million is a crime.

The US government has already banned all guns from certain people. For the Tennessee Cherokee Indians (read about the Trail of Tears), it ended with 25% dead and their families forced to walk at gunpoint 1000 miles to Oklahoma. Never again.

Won't happen. The Constitution would have to be changed, that would be exceedingly protracted and difficult, to put it mildly. However, it is possible to nit-pick, add restrictions, especially to 'under-aged' (18 is the legal age of emancipation, yet, politicians still pass laws treating 18 plus year olds as not-quite adults. No wonder we have immature young adults.

Northern New England no problem getting guns or rifles, especially Vermont. It's almost entirely rural or small towns/cities. LOWEST VIOLENT CRIME AND 'GUN CRIME' in the U.S. I'm talking, obviously, PROPORTIONATELY, numbers adjusted for population density, etc. What alost all non-Americans don't understand is 95% of violent gun related crime occurs in certain neighborhoods of small, medium, and large cities. School shooting, Las Vegas-style shootings, is statistically rare, and account for a small fraction of over-all 'gun crime'.

Right now American politicians fear the elite. If they try to take the guns they will soon thereafter fear gun owners as I believe all it would take are a few gunowners to make an example out of a few tyrants and the rest will become terrified and reverse the laws.

On many many occasions, my family have driven foreign visitors all over several states so that these folks witness the diversity of America. They always remark, "My gosh, America is huge!"

This is the largest problem that foreigners fail to realize as they really cannot grasp our immense size until they actually travel within it...compared to their own tiny countries.

Yet, the certainly are mouthy about posing political solutions which they claim worked in their home countries.

I wonder post economic migrants into the EU with all the rapes, violence, no go zones, and murders...how many EU citizens wish they had their own firearms.

Sorry, but until the "leaders" start paying the price, this march to slavery will continue.

Trump is not our god, don't fall into that trap.

There are tens of millions of armed veterans, and tens of millions more American hunters, experienced shooters.

This country will NOT be disarmed by anyone.

YOU have no idea how deep the hatred runs in this country against the slime that has been shitting on US for decades.

That hatred got Trump elected.

I'm not worried about Trump. He is playing the long game. And GOD may just be on his side.

Guns are never going to be banned. You know why? Not because it would cause a civil war....because gun sales make a ton of money. Gun manufacturers, politicians and the NRA are all in on it. Make the population afraid and distrustful of each other so they continue buying more and more weapons.

They aren't trying to do things like this-

Thomas Massie warning on gun control ---> the covert plan to slip it all into a budget bill, rather than anything titled as a gun ban, to ram it

Are they?

And they haven't been trying since 1934, right?

If president Trump decides to go a head with this bill and have all weaponary to be confiscated by government that any citizen of the USA own.
What will your actions at that point be?
Considering if you dont comply, you could be shot or jailed for a lengthy period.
What will be your reaction if trump decides against the people he promised he was here to protect and stand by?

with the huge divides within thee country right now on who is right or wrong,
from the left to the right,
do you see a civil war happening?
And or a fight against military of they turn up at your door for your Guns and ammo?

I know how serious this can get and become,
This is why i ask these questions to see the response from Americans themselves.

I believe you should stick by your own thoughts and opinions, and stay protected with your guns.
Do not let them have them what so ever.
That my opinion though.

If they do press the issue and try confiscation THEN due process, they will have a serious fight on their hands.
