I've noticed an inability to engage in reasoning even in people who claim to be Conservatives.

It is decidedly stronger in Liberals, though. They shut down and need a safe space if following something to it's logical conclusion is required of them.

The natural progression of modern liberalism is the eventual suicide of the host society. Liberalism is about, and centered around destruction under the guise of "change". Not changing to anything better but simply change for the sake of change. Its a "cultural Jenga". Remove the pillars of cultural foundation from the bottom and place them precariously on the top or somewhere in the middle until the societal structure eventually collapses.
