There is no such thing as vegan because plants eat animals. You can be an animal eating a plant that an an animal that ate a plant. Or you can be an animal eating an animal that ate a plant that ate an animal.
How are flowers any less alive or beautiful than cows?
Everything we eat is alive.

In the evolution of man, we were a small brained, ground dwelling monkey until we started to eat meat. The protein gave us bigger brains, and allowed us to become smarter than the predators. Most of us appreciate that larger brain, and try to sustain it, so we can think more clearly. Obviously, you do not value, or use, your larger brain.  Maybe the fruit from the tree of knowledge was really meat that got us out of the trees?
