I'm guessing that many of the rejects are due to some sort fo mental illness. Mental illness is very common nowadays, more so than in the past.

I am mentally ill and would probably be disqualified, even from a draft.

Sorry for that slightly misleading title, out of each 10k found, only 50 will meet the necessary minimum. He implied that is just physical. 44 situp crunches in such such time, 4 pullups, easy stuff. Run a certain distance within 2 hours or something (I missed that part, radio got hard to hear).

From a moms perspective

My son is a high school graduate

His national standard tests say he is above average and average.

Cannot score high enough on army entrance test taken in 2017

Neighbor is car mechanic. Tried to get into army. Cannot pass entrance tests.

He is the manager of the car shop.

So I don’t think it is the physical part.

The recruiter told me they had dropped over 300 mos. they had added like 14 and most of those required a four year degree. Dog handler and drone operator required a four year degree.

It's almost like perhaps they're in denial and just finally waking up to what is now available. I wonder if they themselves notice all the soy products in all the shelf foods we buy today? Tomato sauce, bread, everything that's not from scratch.

It's mostly all K0sher though, that's what counts.

That's the scary thing about it. If a truly needed shortfall of pre-soy boys does occur, we might be the ones they decide to call on first.

I don't know too much about the area of feeding babies, but I'd venture to guess that formula has been full of soy oil, etc for years now. Of course it would never be publicaly admitted if it was.

You are what you eat. It's a fact that males who eat soy products will begin to grow breasts. I've heard this directly from a completely outside the glp realm by wellness nutritionist practictioners.

I won't argue there's some fatties sitting around doing nothing.

But there are many pro gamers making a good living at it, and they look like they are in good shape.

I guess the only legitimate soy is so called edame (sic?). It's not processed whole legume like soy beans.

It's not that they don't "meet the standards" it's that they don't want to join the military.

Who wants to go die for corporate interests, or get your legs blown off, or develop PTSD.

I saw a guy who had arm stubs, his arms were blown off by IED in Iraq.

Nice life, now he has to be waited on by his loved ones, and will get a small living allowance from the government.

If they come to America I'd be one of the first ones ready to defend.

However todays military is more the style of occupy foreign countries that have things we want, such as opium or oil.

True. There's a lot of corporate parasitical overlap that makes sure you can't be happy unless they thrive. But you certainly won't have a chance to survive if fighting for your country hadn't been around for a while now. It would have been a different show.

The problem, as I see it IMO, in your perspective, (like libertarians tend to do, not saying you're one) is that where we are is because of all of that. It's not like we just woke up and is it chicken or egg day.

They are VERY picky these days.

I was in the forces in the late 80's (Infantry), went on to a civilian career as a pilot and ground service tech, have a business degree and about a year ago just for the fun of it inquired about getting back in.

They dont want me.

Know of one guy who did 25 years Infantry, retired as a Warrant Officer and after a few years wanted back in. They would only take him as a cook.

It's the same thing with politics. We tend to have this attitude that it won't help if we raise children and encourage them to get into politics.

But we don't, who does? We're seeing that today. It's about running away versus fighting. Ironically. Same stuff.

CA or US? It's funny, it's almost akin to ageism in tech fields nowadays. Maybe there's some legitimacy to all that in practicality. But it certainly says something. I guess I can see them taking preference in the new rather than the old, because the old already know to some degree.
