Re: About to quit my job for better work life balance. I'm out of this rat race.
I am salary working 50 hours a week. I do well but I miss my family and personal time dearly. My wife stays home and home schools my daughter.

I'm sick of the rat race and have some savings......I would love to go back to 40 hours a week with less pay. I like money but I don't love it nor base my success within in.

I want to enjoy my time with my family and feel like I have a life. Any tips for transitioning or maybe creating some other forms of income along with my annual income?

Has anyone else here done this? How did you like it? Did you make it work?

50 hours is easy time. Just deal with it and provide for your family.
I made the mistake once and regretted it, just stay where you are.

Do it. Money cannot buy time. Don't waste your life participating in tax-slavery. Get out.

OP, I did what you propose in 2015. It didn't take long to realize that I didn't plan too well. It took me a long time to find another IT job.

By then I had 9 cavities.

I am now on the hamster wheel again. I just worked 5 weekends in a row. Yesterday I slept right through my alarm clock and awoke from my coma to call the boss to explain what happened. I am to the point now where the body is just taking over and must sleep.

I got 3 calls last night to work an issue. Our rising offshore Indians could not handle something simple. Instead of calling the on call person they always call me.

I told them no, put the cell on the charger in another room and went back to sleep. Fuck em. If I get fired I will sue the crap out of them.

Share your life and love with your life and love, not with your job and money and stupid politicians who clearly have no idea what they're doing. I wish I had more input on how you could make more money but I think perhaps if you focused on finding happiness/love/beauty/that sort of stuff you wouldn't even care that much as long as you can still provide for your family and make them happy.
