Australian Gun Law Statistic
Not sure if this has been posted before, and I'm too lazy to do a search so here goes..

Australian Gun Law statistics on the first year results after surrender of guns:
Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts....
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under. After the first year since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, UP 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria .....alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns....'

You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.
The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note Americans, before it's too late!

Well, to be fair, the ones they had were fake staged massacres to trick Aussies into turning in their guns. Now their island is truly a prison colony once again.

The reality is that we are not obsessed with guns and are not so paranoid that we need to pack a gun to go shopping.

its weird how you guys think aussies are a bunch of criminals. and you say molon labe over and over again. and you think aussies dont have any guns. despite guns being legal in australia. if aussies are a bunch of criminals, why would they "turn in there guns". please try to think if that is possible!!!

That's the point Noob, law-abiding citizens were forced to turn over their guns under threat, the criminals didn't bother. Hence the rise in crime.. Get it?

nobody was forced to do anything. the govt offered to buy various guns. people sold them a small amount of various old guns they didn't want any more, and bought new ones. there was no massive search of the whole country forcing people to turn over there guns. if all aussies are criminals why would we bother turning over guns? try to think!

obviously you dont actually care about aussie gun laws. you are really arguing about AMERICAN gun laws. and the AMERICAN gun law propaganda bs comes from both sides.

for example. "there have been no mass school shootings in australia since the gun laws!!" <-- bs AMERICAN gun law propaganda

"The Monash University shooting was a school shooting in which a student shot his classmates and teacher, killing two and injuring five. It took place at Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 21 October 2002. The gunman, Huan Yun Xiang, was acquitted of crimes related to the shootings due to mental impairment, and is currently under psychiatric care. Several of the people present in the room of the shootings have been commended for their bravery in tackling Xiang and ending the shooting.

Bradley Thompson later entered the room and discovered five guns in holsters around Xiang's waist, including two Berettas, a Taurus, and two revolvers, as well as two magazines from near his hip."
