My 94 year old mother -in - law has been diagnosed with Covid-19. She's in a nursing home (dementia) and the doctors think she may have been exposed by a sitter. Neither my husband nor myself have seen her for the last 2 weeks because the nursing home has been on lock down.

She is such a sweet woman. Please pray that she doesn't suffer.

Sending a prayer her way and yours. I hope you are able to talk by phone at least.

Then I had an awful thought what if the virus is a cover for some other impending doom, what if there is another possible worldwide event that could be potentially more dangerous than the virus?

This is why older people as sometimes needed, the young ones don't know about this now. We did, grandpa was a wealth of information and he was a collector of information all over the US. He worked on the railroad from the late 1800s and knew Frank James and many others. He is the one who taught me to own up to anything you have ever done because if you do no one can blackmail you. He had a fantastic memory too.
The best was being kin to president Harrison, the first one, being the first cousin through his daddy. The joke that was made had to do with him always talking about being president one day.

Then the end being, well dang, all that talk and he just up and died. Joking is a way of dealing with my family. We were the Native bunch or side of the family.

I have a crazy background, all had money until the great depression. Grandma knew how to hunt wild things that first winter, she pulled them through that part, she also Native Indian, and my grandpa was mixed to a high degree. We never talked too much about this, see you could not own land if you were Native American until 1971. Craziest bunch of gov. there ever was who made that rule, most of them were part Native American, too.

Quinine is a medication used to treat malaria and babesiosis.[2] This includes the treatment of malaria due to Plasmodium falciparum that is resistant to chloroquine when artesunate is not available
Quinine was first isolated in 1820 from the bark of a cinchona tree.[2][5][6] Bark extracts have been used to treat malaria since at least 1632.[7] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the safest and most effective medicines needed in a health system.

Grenoble (/ɡrəˈnoʊbəl/ grə-NOH-bəl,[2] French: [ɡʁənɔbl] (About this soundlisten); Arpitan: Grenoblo) is a city in southeastern France, at the foot of the French Alps where the river Drac joins the Isère. Located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Grenoble is the capital of the department of Isère[3] and is an important European scientific centre.[4][5] The city advertises itself as the "Capital of the Alps", due to its size and its proximity to the mountains.

Science and engineering

Site of European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Institut Laue-Langevin and European Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Western end of the Polygone Scientifique
Grenoble is a major scientific centre, especially in the fields of physics, computer science, and applied mathematics: Universite Joseph Fourier (UJF) is one of the leading French scientific universities while the Grenoble Institute of Technology trains more than 5,000 engineers every year in key technology disciplines. Grenoble's high tech expertise is organized mainly around three domains: information technology, biotechnologies and new technologies of energy.[47]

Many fundamental and applied scientific research laboratories are conjointly managed by Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble Institute of Technology, and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). Numerous other scientific laboratories are managed independently or in collaboration with the CNRS and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA).

Other research centres in or near Grenoble include the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the Institut de radioastronomie millimétrique, one of the main research facilities of the Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique (Nuclear Energy Commission, CEA), the LNCMI and the European branch of Xerox Research (whose most notable center was PARC). Leti and the recent development of Minatec, a centre for innovation in micro- and nano-technology, only increases Grenoble's position as a European scientific centre.[48] Biotechnologies are also well represented in the Grenoble region with the molecular biology research center BioMérieux, the Clinatec center, the regional center NanoBio and many ramifications of the global competitiveness cluster Lyonbiopôle.[49]

Meanwhile, Grenoble has large laboratories related to space and to the understanding and observation of the universe as the Institut de radioastronomie millimétrique, the Institut de planétologie et d'astrophysique de Grenoble,[50] the Laboratoire de physique subatomique et de cosmologie de Grenoble, the Institut Néel but also to a lesser extent the Institut des sciences de la Terre (part of the Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers de Grenoble).

In order to foster this technological cluster university institutions and research organizations united to create the GIANT (Grenoble Innovation for Advanced New Technologies) Campus[51] with the aim at becoming one of the world's top campuses in research, higher education, and high tech.

Economy
Industry occupies a large part of the local economy. High-tech industries have a significant presence, especially in the field of semiconductors, electronics and biotechnology. STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric and Soitec have major manufacturing and R&D facilities. Traditional industries in fields such as heavy equipment manufacturing and chemistry are still present and include Caterpillar, GE Renewable Energy and Arkema.

Oprah Winfrey
@Oprah
Just got a phone call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE. Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody.🙏🏾

This is her tweet. Been thinking there's more to their tweets than we think. She hasn't addressed the fact that her property on the canal is being excavated.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77025727

Do we know that as a fact? Has it been proven the property being excavated is Oprah's?
 Quoting: Misspurrrrrect

It's not her property. She doesn't own a house there.
 Quoting: keybored

I didn't pay to much attention to the Oprah thing, I did pay attention to the place and what they said was going on there. That is the question, was it true they were digging up the place hunting for something?

something about the $1000 - $2000 dollar payment to everyone in America has really been bugging me the past couple daze...
Right up until I took a look at it from 10,000ft

How does Trump get an instant Census and what would that do against the Lefts Historical Voter Fraud tactics, if it can all be pulled off in just a couple months?

How crazy is my thinking?

wow...

I thought at the time that his speech was unusual, but the meaning of his words have sooooo much moar meaning today than they did that day...

I just watched the whole thing. Of course I had seen it live at the time. But it's beautiful to hear again, and to think of everything that has happened, and is happening now.

Thanks for adding that to the thread.

-Cemetery in Bergamo can no longer cope with the mounting death toll in the city, where at least 93 have died

-Mortuaries are full and crematorium staff have been handling 24 bodies a day, officials in Bergamo have said

-Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

Re: QAnon: It's on, don't panic ii
I was thinking this morning how strange with the shops and panic buyers.

I was thinking with what is happening here in Australia is a carbon copy of what is happening in the US and the UK and everywhere else around the world I can find to read about.

Toilet paper seemed to be the starting gun.

I find it so strange that it is not similar it is exactly same behavior, actions as I wrote carbon copy almost, well … coordinated.

The time frame, the items being brought, the items now not available look for yourselves exactly the same, it could be called a little spooky.

Then I asked myself why is our supply chains to supermarkets
and shops so fragile? why is it that shops and supermarkets have been empty for the last couple of weeks, with small stock put back on shelves but nothing to indicate all is being sorted?

Then I thought, here it is two weeks and the major chain supermarket near me looks like and is stocked liked a really badly run small shop, nothing on the shelves, even after a couple weeks and in what is looked upon an extraordinary event a major supermarket chain cannot coordinate better supplies to their outlets to keep the supermarkets at least half stocked!

and it is not just the major chains, it is also the smaller operators and small corner shops … nothing, so I ask myself why? it is almost like they are winding down rather than ramping up.

Then I had an awful thought what if the virus is a cover for some other impending doom, what if there is another possible worldwide event that could be potentially more dangerous than the virus?

So what if the authorities believe it is better to have a slow build up of panic and acceptance of a virus coming rather than an absolute massive panic and hysteria breaking out over say something like, I don't know ... an asteroid?

Something seems odd from the beginning of this virus outbreak to me and I find the behavior or the so called panic buying even more odd, I don't know what an earth shattering event actually looks like who does?
 Quoting: Mr Tibbs

It's a good theory...and if not a virus, whatever it is...they are keeping people somewhat calm and spread out from each other. People are essentially self quarantined. Not gathering in "large groups."
Divided (separated), we are weak? "Social distancing" is now a household phrase.
Home or work are the only accepted places to be right now? Or short trip for essentials.
 Quoting: Clair_Voyant

This is not an unusual thing for me. When I was growing up, communities were this way, you worked either at a job, came home and worked. The gathering with others was either at Church or Church groups softball, or you went to get groceries, that was about it. There were rare times that people went to the doctors, if you called they came to you.
We even had a delivery of eggs, milk, cheese, and sometimes ice cream. There were also products from the Stanley company that brought cleaning products and home medicine. Pretty much separate most of the time, except schools. There were the times a visitor came, not uninvited. Stores were always stocked as they had a lot of back stock. A simpler life there was not a lot of stuff that had no reason to be, most of the time we didn't have TV we had a radio, battery operated. Not overloaded with clothes, nor anything you just didn't need.

The 1970s started the consumer push and more credit and debt personal debt. They took the last silver off the coins.
They took the silver certificates also. This hurt the little guys their checks did not go up, prices did.
 Quoting: hankie

There is a legendary story in my family that my mom and her siblings were all sick and the pediatrician came to the house on a tow truck! Strep and ear infections and all my mom would say is "we all got shots but we were so miserable we were glad to see the doctor!" And the doctor had medicine with him to give to my mom and her siblings until the pharmacy could deliver the medicine. They had a silver box on the back porch and they got milk and eggs and cheese delivered into that box, milk in glass bottles. And they had someone called the fulla brush man who came and sold brooms and mops and things every month.
