Did you know back then he was doing hacking, you mostly did not need to hack anyone for information? They rarely put in passwords, I know this, I walked through many of their doors to read if it looked interesting. Some of those places were military. I was not copying or trying to cause problems, just gathering information. I have yet to understand why they did not use passwords. I did not mind them not using so much then, only in hind sight do I see it could be a problem or could have. I did not use any search engines, I just thought up a address which that maybe the a place that could be, a lot of the time I was right. Nothing to do with hacking just taking a look around.
