Thread: Sanders to propose canceling entire $1.6 trillion in US student loan debt

This could be a real game changer and get dems to go out and vote for bernie and not joe.

The student loan debt is killing the millenials and their parents. Often the student loans were not enough and the parents needed to supplement them with parent plus loans. And, mind you that is in addition to a lot of folks saving money for college for their kids from birth.

People won't see bernie's communist/socialist agenda, all they will see is that their debt burden, the burden preventing their parents from retiring, the burden preventing them from getting married and starting households, would be lifted. It would be something for them so they'll run to vote in bernie. Ignoring the fact of his ideology and also that he'd need to have congress authorize this. And most of the student loans were either issued by or bought by the government, that money is probably keeping a lot of stuff going.

But, since they rarely ask questions or put two and two together, this might become a challenge for POTUS.

The worst part of student loans and parent plus loans is that GWB made them not dischargeable by bankruptcy and he made them transferable to your heirs upon your death. When that happened wondered how badly the US government needed that money, after they've bailed out corporations etc...that they would make generations of families responsible for student debt? This came after many folks used loans and graduated and had no idea GWB would double cross the hard working middle class and upper class with this burden. Most folks in the lower class have advantages to attend free if they have the grades.

Q often hints at the GRIP that TPTB have on everyone worldwide, on that note look at this info from ages ago that clearly describes our current day plight.

My tests of Chrome vs. Firefox unearthed a personal data caper of absurd proportions. In a week of Web surfing on my desktop, I discovered 11,189 requests for tracker “cookies” that Chrome would have ushered right onto my computer but were automatically blocked by Firefox. These little files are the hooks that data firms, including Google itself, use to follow what websites you visit so they can build profiles of your interests, income and personality.

Chrome welcomed trackers even at websites you would think would be private. I watched Aetna and the Federal Student Aid website set cookies for Facebook and Google. They surreptitiously told the data giants every time I pulled up the insurance and loan service’s log-in pages.

And that’s not the half of it.

Look in the upper right corner of your Chrome browser. See a picture or a name in the circle? If so, you’re logged in to the browser, and Google might be tapping into your Web activity to target ads. Don’t recall signing in? I didn’t, either. Chrome recently started doing that automatically when you use Gmail. -Washington Post

WASHINGTON - Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., will propose on Monday eliminating all $1.6 trillion of student debt held in the United States, a significant escalation of the policy fight in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary two days before the candidates' first debate in Miami.

Sanders is proposing that the federal government pay to wipe clean the student debt held by 45 million Americans - including all private and graduate school debt - as part of a package that also would make public universities, community colleges and trade schools tuition-free.

Sanders is proposing to pay for these plans with a tax on Wall Street his campaign says will raise more than $2 trillion over 10 years, though some tax experts give lower revenue estimates.
