Then an industry-sponsored Data Center Reduction Act was pushed through Congress in 2013, lubricated with liberal donations from Big Data. Since that law, federal agencies have been offloading government data centers to private companies like Amazon. Four individuals with ties to Amazon wrote the requirements for the JEDI contract. This made Amazon the prime contender for the contract. These government employees then jumped ship to Amazon. It eventually won the contract. The problem here is Amazon has the government by the shorts - how can you regulate a company that holds all your data as hostage? It's like regulating the Federal Reserve.
