For the record, opioids dont help anyone. The increase pain over time and kill thousands, while destroying the lives of more. They shouldn't be banned though, just used with more caution. The last thing I want to see is a big pharma takeover of pot. They'll fuck that up too. |

The last thing I want to see is a big pharma takeover of pot. They'll fuck that up too. You said opioids don't help anyone? What are you basing that statement on, personal experience, family member experience, a study, or what? I have been on opioids since 2001, have had multiple failed back surgeries, and would have committed suicide without opioids which are prescribed to me. Monthly. I have to go to the doctor monthly, 2 1/2 hours away each way, to get my prescription. I take a urine test each and every month. Since 2003. Never have lost my meds nor run short and had to go early. I take them as prescribed. I have signed a contract stating what they can do and what I have to do, this began in 2003 when I had done absolutely nothing wrong in two years, because it became "procedure". I have to keep my meds in a lockbox. I have to use only ONE pharmacy which is on file in the contract and if they are out of my particular med when I go to fill it, I am shit out of luck until it gets in stock. My dr can call me in at any time she wants for a med count. If I miss an appointment, even if I had effin pneumonia or was hospitalized, it is re-scheduled at their convenience, which could be 3 weeks out and I would have no meds during that time, since I have signed the contract to not see any other doctor. If I did see another doctor for emergency pain medication that would be considered "doctor shopping" and I would be breaking the contract and would not be seen again. Then I'd have no doctor to give as a reference for my history of pain medications and wouldn't be able to get any meds, PERIOD. You can't just walk into a new doctors office and say I need 40 mg of Percocet a day for pain and get it. You are increased to the amount that helps you be somewhat relieved from pain, and no new doctor will start you at that amount without getting your medical records. And if you broke the contract with your prior doctor, you aren't getting your meds. Period. I have never given her a reason to call me in for a med count, so that has never happened, but if she does call me in, I have to make the 5 hour round trip drive or I will be cut off. I cannot drive due to pain so I have to have a person lined up who can get me there at any time of any day. In 2001, I could go to the doctor and get a script for current month and 2 post-dated scripts for the next two months so I didn't have to come in each month. All the other things I listed, the monthly visits, the contract, the monthly urine test, the lockbox, a medcount visit, using only one pharmacy, seeing only one doctor, no more post-dated scripts, etc. began in 2003. My doctor costs 100 bucks per visit so those post-dated scripts would save me 200 bucks over a 2 month period. Not anymore. Do you REALLY think people go to ALL this BULLSHIT trouble because opioids don't help with our pain? You are CLUELESS. Their major income is from illegal sales of opioids from Afghanistan. On the street the drugs bring more income than legalized pain killers. So, shut off the legal supply and force veterans etc to buy on the street. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 590644 At the beginning of the speech he said he warned other countries to cut it out. The last thing I want to see is a big pharma takeover of pot. They'll fuck that up too. BS!!! Speak to that of which you may know. I have taken opiates daily for 20 years and they have done nothing but let me be a productive member of my family again, and have harmed nobody but my own digestive system. And considering the alternative of Tylenol or Advil, and the damage it does to my internal organs, I will gladly trade the constipation for the benefit it gives me. It is people like you who are speaking false knowledge, or at least not true in an "every situation" scenario, that are going to eventually turn this into a total ban on any opiate no matter what. And then, when there is nothing else to ease the pain, we still end up with massive deaths, only this time it will be from suicide from people like me who cannot take another minute of suffering in pain for no reason. BTW, I have tried pot, hated it, did nothing but INTENSIFIED my pain, and would rather bang my head into a concrete wall than use it ever again. So unless you have direct experience with chronic pain and opiate use, quit spreading crap! Most deaths are either from heroin injection or Chinese "Fentanyl" abuse. |
