I find it interesting that they decide to house the homeless in cities with some of the priciest and most desirable real estate in the country.
So they're going to house bums who don't work, who drink and do drugs all daybin these nice areas that regular people can't even afford to live, AND on the taxpayer's dime?!

It is a tough problem for sure, if there was some way to bring hope to people like this, to rid the need of drugs and escapism, perhaps they would find the motivation in the gesture of being helped and put the newfound faith towards positive collective works. Just my 2c I used to work with this population and went into the field idealistic like yourself but quickly realized the truth. Most homeless people simply won't help themselves. There are a ton of resources out there to help them but rarely do they want to change their lifestyle. Of course, there are always a few exceptions.
