If people knew why he really did that, his tactic wouldn't work. SHHHH! (Hint: He's got the whole world thinking he's a loose cannon.)

Trump had issues with leakers and people not doing what they were told...throwing in Bolton in this circle dont make sense at all...unless a war with Iran is on the horizon and thats what Bolton stands for.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76302841

It certainly does not make sense considering what Trump campaigned on.

Oh, it's another one of these posts. " I was a supporter 20 seconds ago, but here is why I changed.. "

If you voted for Trump, you knew he would be a bull in a china shop. Let alone, so Hillary wouldn't be elected. You'all keep ignoring this when it suits you, but it's still better than her.

Do people really think if someone campaigns on "anti-war" it will happen? Is there only one variable to the equation, the presidents promise ?

As we have found out, there are many layers to government and those who have the ability to affect change, without notice. Thinking the world is ending due to a string of appointments is extremely dramatic.

Bolton is needed because he does not talk. No leaks, no dissent, no chaos. Mission accomplished.

Re: Trump's Appointment of John Bolton A Betrayal of Trump's Base
I don't view this as a betrayal, at all.

McMaster was unwilling to make changes, but John will.

The idea is to project strength, not to start wars, but sometimes you need a "warhawk" like personality to display that strength.

Do I agree with Bolton on all issues? No. Nor does Trump, in fact, Bolton acknowledges these disagreements.

Bolton will serve as an in house "advisor" on national security issues, any actions will be balanced by other advisors on his staff...a smart decision maker needs to hear both sides of the issue.

Well, I was more than a 20 second supporter. I was involved in the primary campaign in Oregon and made several pro-Trump videos in 2016. I attended a Trump rally.

But when Trump promises he is going to end all these silly wars and then appoints an ultra Neo-con man like Bolton as the national security advisor, something doesn't add up.

I think there are plenty of people Trump could have appointed who would not be a leaker, without having to name a pro-war man like Bolton. Give me a break.

Trump could literally hire Dick Cheney and Henry Kissinger into his admin and his hardcore supporters would call it an amazing 33D chess move by the master strategist. Then they would claim that Cheney and Kissinger are really anti-globalists that are fighting the NWO just because Trump hired them. That's how deluded they are. There's no point in convincing those retards. They'll never learn.

Yeah, I think you may be right.

Trump appointing Bolton is totally antithetical to the promises he made as a candidate. Makes no sense. If Trump still leads us to WW3, albeit slower than Hillary would have, what's the difference?

We all know there is a group of strategists deep under the Pentagon figuring out the future of America. Apparently they've determined, no matter who is president, that America needs a world war.

Maybe so. But surely they don't control who Trump appoints, do they? Seems like the blame lays squarely with Trump. Appointing an ultra Neo con is a total betrayal.

Re: Trump's Appointment of John Bolton A Betrayal of Trump's Base
I used to be a fairly ardent supporter of Trump. But now that he's appointed John Bolton as his national security advisor, I'm wondering what is going on.

Trump made it clear while campaigning that he opposed the 2003 Iraq invasion and that he wanted to stop the empire building of the USA. No more continuous invading of other countries in the name of an ill defined War on Terror.

John Bolton not only supported and still supports the 2003 Iraq invasion, but he is known to be one of the most ardent pro-war, pro-invasion, pro-empire building people in DC.

Why has Trump done an about face by appointing such a war monger when he campaigned on ending all these mindless wars????

I agree the bill he signed recently is pretty bad, but it seems everyone is so focused on that, they've missed this thing about the Bolton appointment. If John Bolton is able to shape foreign policy and persuade Trump on these issues, that seems to be a far more dangerous development.

Maybe I missed this topic being discussed here before, but I wanted to throw this out here.

Does anyone think Trump's appointment of Bolton is not only a betrayal of what Trump campaigned on but also a warning that WW3 got that much closer?

John Bolton is an insane moron. He genuinely believes every bit of propaganda from the CIA. He somehow thinks that Saddam was our enemy and that Iraq is much better off because of the war. The man is a certifiable lunatic.

Hopefully, he wont have much influence with Trump. I think Trump is mostly appointing people based on how much he trusts them not to stab him in the back, more so than any advice they might offer. Bolton is just filling an empty seat.
 Quoting: OldWhiteGuy

Trumps not stupid. He needs someone that will back him up the instant something happens. That doesn't mean he will be giving Bolton a long leash though. Imagine if North Korea sent a nuclear missile headed straight for Washington or your home town. Would you want to have someone in there arguing with the President about which button to press.

We have to find an alternative to TRUMP
and find him FAST.
If we don't, America is FINISHED.
It surely isn't PENCE.

We need a TRUE Pro-American,
anti GLOBALIST PATRIOT,
like we THOUGHT Trump was.

ANY IDEAS?
