Re: Trump's Appointment of John Bolton A Betrayal of Trump's Base
Oh, it's another one of these posts. " I was a supporter 20 seconds ago, but here is why I changed.. "

If you voted for Trump, you knew he would be a bull in a china shop. Let alone, so Hillary wouldn't be elected. You'all keep ignoring this when it suits you, but it's still better than her.

Do people really think if someone campaigns on "anti-war" it will happen? Is there only one variable to the equation, the presidents promise ?

As we have found out, there are many layers to government and those who have the ability to affect change, without notice. Thinking the world is ending due to a string of appointments is extremely dramatic.

Bolton is needed because he does not talk. No leaks, no dissent, no chaos. Mission accomplished.

^^this.
I’m tired of shit threads with shills or idiots spewing shit content.

If people think they’re going to die in ww3 (lol) you’re contacting the wrong place. Ain’t shit glp’ers got to do with that. Contact your congressman-he’ll save ya
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76384961

Is it your knee jerk reaction to call anyone you disagree with a shill? lol
 Quoting: LoverofYahshua

No, not at all. I don’t have a problem with your opinions. I feel you’re overreacting a bit but that’s your prerogative.
This thread is infiltrated with idiot shill opinions that are shit for content. Organize for America paid shills with little to no political understandings...& it’s obvious.

Trump had issues with leakers and people not doing what they were told...throwing in Bolton in this circle dont make sense at all...unless a war with Iran is on the horizon and thats what Bolton stands for.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76302841

It certainly does not make sense considering what Trump campaigned on.
 Quoting: LoverofYahshua

I remember it vividly because it was one of the main reasons I stayed home from the polls. I like most of what candidate Trump had to say, but the inconsistencies and red flags were there. I haven't found the interview yet, but I did find this quote from newly elected Trump:

"“I think John Bolton’s a good man,” Trump replied. “I watched him yesterday, actually, and he was very good in defending me in some of my views, and very, very strong. And I’ve always liked John Bolton. Well, we are thinking about it, Hugh. I will say that. We are thinking about it. I mean, the negative is what I told you. But we are seriously thinking about it.”"

Re: Trump's Appointment of John Bolton A Betrayal of Trump's Base
John Bolton is an insane moron. He genuinely believes every bit of propaganda from the CIA. He somehow thinks that Saddam was our enemy and that Iraq is much better off because of the war. The man is a certifiable lunatic.

Hopefully, he wont have much influence with Trump. I think Trump is mostly appointing people based on how much he trusts them not to stab him in the back, more so than any advice they might offer. Bolton is just filling an empty seat.
 Quoting: OldWhiteGuy

Trumps not stupid. He needs someone that will back him up the instant something happens. That doesn't mean he will be giving Bolton a long leash though. Imagine if North Korea sent a nuclear missile headed straight for Washington or your home town. Would you want to have someone in there arguing with the President about which button to press.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40421057

Is your post serious? You really think if a nuclear missile is heading toward us, anyone would argue with Trump about what to do?????

I think perhaps your critical thinking skills need to be honed.
 Quoting: LoverofYahshua

This is exactly the problem and we need to address it. The other side, the side that's out in the streets today, the ones you voted against and the ones who constantly advocate for the rights of the world; subtract the citizens of the USA and the papers that make us. They ALWAYS question the president or his supporters. Every issue is an issue of emotion, morality, virtue, justice and righteousness. All of it lacking logic, process or patience.

I don't need to explain to you that dissent just makes the other side stronger, as you said, you worked on the campaign. But again, if you tear Trump down, who replaces him. Did you think that one out? Everyone should do that before they put emotion to keys. Seriously.

Ummm, okay. No problem.

Trump has not stopped the mindless war in Afghanistan. Instead he sent MORE troops and is continuing Obama's policy of spending more money on our troops fighting over there.

Trump has made so many belligerent remarks toward North Korea, some sort of limited nuclear conflict seems almost inevitable now, especially with war monger John Bolton at the helm now.

Trump has not stopped our empire building in any meaningful way. Instead he seems content to allow the Bush/Obama foreign policy continue unfettered.

Not what he campaigned on.

My worry is we now have one of the chief proponents of the Iraq War,a war that Trump so vehemently opposed and railed against during the year leading up to his election. The appointment of Bolton is a sign that Trump has been compromised. Another shock and awe 9-11 is possible to get the sheep moving in the right direction.

I used to be a fairly ardent supporter of Trump. But now that he's appointed John Bolton as his national security advisor, I'm wondering what is going on.

Trump made it clear while campaigning that he opposed the 2003 Iraq invasion and that he wanted to stop the empire building of the USA. No more continuous invading of other countries in the name of an ill defined War on Terror.

John Bolton not only supported and still supports the 2003 Iraq invasion, but he is known to be one of the most ardent pro-war, pro-invasion, pro-empire building people in DC.

Why has Trump done an about face by appointing such a war monger when he campaigned on ending all these mindless wars????

I agree the bill he signed recently is pretty bad, but it seems everyone is so focused on that, they've missed this thing about the Bolton appointment. If John Bolton is able to shape foreign policy and persuade Trump on these issues, that seems to be a far more dangerous development.

Maybe I missed this topic being discussed here before, but I wanted to throw this out here.

Does anyone think Trump's appointment of Bolton is not only a betrayal of what Trump campaigned on but also a warning that WW3 got that much closer?

Not only the embrace of a total Bush family lap dog and sterling ahole like Bolton, but the appointment of the Sikh Slut to the cabinet. Niki Haley was a signal to all that Drumpf is a neo con war monger. After the orange turd assaulted Syria over a transparent lie, the fact that hump trump and take a dump shills persist show how deep we are into a developed idiocracy.

I half way believed Drumpf when he campaigned against the Neo Cons. I voted for the orange turd. I, unlike Drumpf, served in the USMC. Do not go calling me a share blue shill, Trumptards.

I never trusted Trump. But I sure wish I would've been the one wrong about Trump rather than his supporters. We'd be in a much better situation.

Re: Trump's Appointment of John Bolton A Betrayal of Trump's Base
Trump's staffing actions are hard to figure out.

On the surface, Bolton seems like a total contradiction to Trump's stance against "stupid politician" wars since Bolton was among the 9/11 PNAC conspirators for that war.

What I've learned to do with Trump is ignore his words as much as possible, ignore his cabinet selections, and focus on his actions.

E.g., yesterday he signed a 2000-page pile of crap he didn't have to sign.

Chalk up a bad action.

Trump signing a horrible budget bill and appointing an ultra Neo con war hawk seems like we may as well have voted for Hillary. Yes, it's that bad.

EVERYONE supported the invasion of iraq in 2003.

If you disagree you're just young, stupid or delusional.

Bull. I opposed that war in 2003 and refused to vote for Bush in 2004 because of his betrayal in promising not to engage in empire building.

Trump is doing exactly what W did, promise not to empire build as a candidate and become a vociferous military industrial complex supporter as President.

Disappointing.

Obama also campaigned on peace.
