I want to thank o.p. for a great thread and just trying to have an adult discussion on Bolton. You did a wonderful job and just tried to hear from the base. When insults rained down you ignored them,that's how you do it. I just wanted to say "thanks" while this thread is still alive.

Did you like Barry's buddy's trying to turn America into part of the caliphate better? I'm not fan of the Israelis, or Bibi, but they sure beat the hell out of Oblabla's marriage to the islamic state.

John Bolton is an insane moron. He genuinely believes every bit of propaganda from the CIA. He somehow thinks that Saddam was our enemy and that Iraq is much better off because of the war. The man is a certifiable lunatic.

Hopefully, he wont have much influence with Trump. I think Trump is mostly appointing people based on how much he trusts them not to stab him in the back, more so than any advice they might offer. Bolton is just filling an empty seat.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have major issues, but there are worse things than someone purging the Deep State from the NSC. Obama filled every spot with Muslim Brotherhood, Islamists, Communists, CHICOM agents, etc. I’d rather disagree with someone who is at least loyal to the same nation as me.

I used to be a fairly ardent supporter of Trump. But now that he's appointed John Bolton as his national security advisor, I'm wondering what is going on.

Trump made it clear while campaigning that he opposed the 2003 Iraq invasion and that he wanted to stop the empire building of the USA. No more continuous invading of other countries in the name of an ill defined War on Terror.

John Bolton not only supported and still supports the 2003 Iraq invasion, but he is known to be one of the most ardent pro-war, pro-invasion, pro-empire building people in DC.

Why has Trump done an about face by appointing such a war monger when he campaigned on ending all these mindless wars????

I agree the bill he signed recently is pretty bad, but it seems everyone is so focused on that, they've missed this thing about the Bolton appointment. If John Bolton is able to shape foreign policy and persuade Trump on these issues, that seems to be a far more dangerous development.

Maybe I missed this topic being discussed here before, but I wanted to throw this out here.

The US govt has became pussified. A joke. No walls. No National Security due to leaks & selling secrets.

I’m not ‘crazy’ about him but he’s a good choice for present situation. They’re aware he’s a war hawk & have an eye on him. He’s just an Advisor & won’t start ww3. We’ve got bigger issues right now-like domestic liberal terrorism for example.

On May29,2017 John Bolton was in Jerusalem and received the "Guardian of Zion " award. In his acceptance address he called the U.S. A. "The New Jerusalem".
