45 years ago Pops gave me a c-note and took me into the neighborhood NCNB to open a savings account. Ten years later when I got my first job, I opened a checking account there. At some point, NCNB bought C&S outta Atlanta and became Nations Bank, then later bought BofA and took that name.

Living in Texas now, I go into a branch to deposit a check last month and the teller sees that my account number starts with (5) zeros. She said she had never seen an account number that starts with so many zeros. A few seconds later she says I’ve had that account for 35 years, I told her the savings account is even older.

Well, tomorrow I’ll be closing out both accounts... and telling them why.
