You should have seen zuck squirm today after a senator mentioned FaceMash - his hot or not clone for Harvard.

"That has nothing to do with Facebook...it was a parody project..."

He had to close it down for illegally using the Harvard servers to gather pictures of students and adding them to his "Hot or Not" app without their permission.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."

I thought everyone on GLP knew that F.A.C.E in FaceBook stands for=

No?

It’s quite brilliant actually; albeit diabolical.

And up until last month Facebook was partnered with massive 3rd party data aggregators like Experian and Acxiom.

Facebook knows every single thing about you.

Where you live, what you drive, what you eat, where you go, how much money you earn, your medical history, how much you pay for insurance, where you shop, the phone calls you make, the emails you send, the text messages you send, where and when you use a debit/credit card, when, where and how much cash you withdraw, who your family is, your DNA if you've used services like 23andme, etc...on and on.

Everything you know about yourself, Facebook knows.

Sheila Colclasure, who heads data ethics for Acxiom, says we no longer live in an era of privacy but one of “ethical data use.” Your data will—and should, she argues—be used to gain the valuable insights that come through its collection and analysis.

Like all this other shit that's going...Lifelog was killed because it's illegal for government, but not for corporations.

when Facebook launches a "Social Credit" system, please know that it was planned long in advance. Want to learn more? Watch the 7 minute video...

Thread: Sesame Credit... want to know what the future holds for us and how we'll be controlled?
 Quoting: Sterling Malory Archer

That's what the true purpose of these hearings are

Congress and Facebook will agree to some variation of the Chinese Social Credit System...to police the site
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76184488

Possible, but I don't think so, easier to force on to the Chinese population than on the rest of the world, they are an extremely malleable population.
Very few would buy in to it in the US, look at how pissed off the users are and how big this story got just because they got confirmation of something they already knew...

But I do think that there's a reason behind these hearings and that something new is coming, because the hearings were sounding like a mildly thorough job interview and a way to get the neophytes up to scratch on how all this works lol.
 Quoting: The Deplorable Guitarist

"...Very few would buy in to it in the US..."

this is why Social Credit is so scary.

I disagree with your assessment. I believe that MOST people in the US will WANT this. The changes will not be driven by TPTB, but by The People.

Evidence of this is not just the "Like"-addiction on Facebook, but on every site that has a "like" function.

Just look at the Karma system here. Many people like the validation throughout the internet, throughout real-life.

The People will want this. As such, it will happen.

So are they killing FB now like they did with Lifelog?

If so, I wonder what will replace it, or even if it's needed anymore.

According to the FTC, there are no current federal laws requiring data brokers to maintain the privacy of your data unless they use that data for credit, employment, insurance, housing.

[link to www.privacyrights.org (secure)]

Facebook’s website lists nine third-party data providers that it has worked with, including Acxiom, Experian PLC, Oracle Data Cloud, TransUnion and WPP PLC and everyone of them have likely combined their information about you with Facebook's information about you.

Shares of Acxiom tanked 34 percent after Facebook said it would end its partnerships with the data brokers.

And your hopelessly naive if you don't think all these corporations are trying not to piss thier pants waiting to see how Sesame Credit plays out next year in China.

Same with Bezos and Amazon. He's a tool.

Govt gifted him with the cloud, with the new listening devices, probably gave him a big fat bonus for him getting you to hand over the keys to your house.

Ask yourselves why is it that the only new tech we get is to further stalk us?

Really? Is that all we can develop?

That's all they WANT US TO DEVELOP.

They don't give a fuck about us.

They're steering the population towards hate.

Sick fucks. Truly psychotic sick fucks.

I don't think this is literally true. For example, if you farted today, I don't think Facebook knows it.

But this may soon change with the internet of things, and all sorts of electronic thingies on and in your body.

One thing I've never quite understood is why sheep where so willing to forfeit literally all their private info to facebook, they had to upload pictures, upload gigabytes of videos of themselves and family.

Is it just simply narcissism??? Almost everything sheep post is a facade to show the best in them, its so fake.

Darpa, facebooks, tptb knows more about the human condition than they are willing to share.

Lets say a SHTF scenario or some engineered coloured revolution is taking place, they know who your friends family are they know who your support groups are, they didnt have to infiltrate your communications base no need to pwn you, as you gave it willing.

Thus you chose to be pwn'd.
