Crickey I do not want to go down this route but we have. Kubrick knew everything (speculated faked moon landings etc). So, I am going to speculate not being much of a chemist. If there is an essence (chemical) in the victim that gets boosted and then the torturer creates their own chemicals could the combination of those chemicals be responsible for an addictive high?
