I have, and I've lost nearly 50 lbs, since the first of the year. Keto flu is hell the first week, after that you should be fine.

Re: Keto diet..
Why not eat two meals a day and just halve your portions while adding in more protein? Make it something you can live with. There are you tube videos of people who have lost weight eating fast food(they count calories) and walking each day. So becareful about going to extremes you can’t live with.

Bacon, eggs, whipping cream, full power salad dressing, cheese, veggies, pork, mushrooms, nuts... Who can't live with that?

It IS healthy. And totally maintainable.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is ignorant.

I've been trying to stay on it to keep my insulin resistance under control. I'm susceptible to blowing up if I eat too many carbs. I have a fondness for Little Debbie treats and am a sugar addict, but it is easier for me to stick to the way of eating when I Have less stress in my life, and especially when I'm exercising. Then I don't want to negate all the hard work I'm doing, plus the exercise is a stress reliever.

There are lots of podcasts popping up about it, my favorite is www.ketotalk.com and there is a Keto for Women show too. And lots of doctors and experts on Youtube that explain more in depth of common keto questions, such as Stephanie Keto Person, Dr. Berg, etc.

I am on the third month, I hate being even a little over weight. I am still waiting for the feel better stage. I feel like shit all the time. Week, dizzy, bad mood, chest pain, insomnia, restless. Could be the diet or just the tail end of a long winter and cabin fever or dying and old age.

NO, it does not.

The body will make any glucose it needs for the brain, from the fat you already have stored in the liver, and from the body.

Most(not all) people need carbs eventually. And then they go crazy with them and gain everything and more back. Better to have some carbs in the diet than to get rid of them completely.

Carbs help neurotransmitters. Read up on carbs and brain health. Then you can tailor your diet to what works for your body. The low carb diet will help people to lose weight but you do have to feel good about what you are doing.

Yes. Both me and my wife did this for 4 months.

It is the hardest diet I've ever done in my life, to do it correctly that is.

I was at 23 carbs a day. That is fucking difficult. You only count net carbs (e.g. not sugar alcohols or fiber) but there are carbs in anything and everything.

Even things like low carb vegetables can only be eaten in very small quantities.

You have to increase fat, which is hard to do at the correct ratios. You end up making things like "fat bombs" out of coconut oil and such.

Eating out is very difficult, even when modifying the menu, any slightly being "off" in what you think it is (whether published or other) can kick you out.

You need to ensure that you are in ketosis, or it is pointless, so you'll need a keto meter measures your ketone levels like blood sugar, only one or two people on amazon sell the strips and they are expensive.

You will lose weight and have more energy, but you will lose any pleasure from eating food. You substitue things like coconut flour and almond flour, etc... however the texture of everything becomes one dimensional.

Some people live their lives doing it, but I do not see it as being a sustainable diet in anyway.

You can try it, but it takes a shit load of commitment.

I quit, and would NEVER do it again. Lots of benefits, but it does have a psychological and neurochemical affect.

It may work for you, but telling people that if they think otherwise, they are ignorant, is very arrogant. Healthy, yes, there are no health concerns if done and monitored, and I did have blood work done to monitor the affects, and it was mostly positive, but maintainable for YOU is not maintainable for everyone.

Lost 50lb on keto, still running it but increased my calories so I'm not really loosing weight any more, which is fine because that's not my goal. My goal right now is to just be hapoy, feel good and keep my blood sugar levels stable.

Re: Keto diet..
Keto/low carb is one of the healthiest diets you can be on. Don't listen to the naysayers, they haven't done it for any significant amount of time. I've been Keto since November last year and I've never felt healthier or more energized. The one thing a lot of people don't mention or put as much focus on when doing Ketosis is how much better your brain works. It's a miracle. Your hormones will work better, my testosterone shot up and I'm working out like a mad man. I highly recommend giving it a try. If you really want to take it to the next level, make your own bone broth (use grass fed beef bones). And stay off the booze, it really doesn't help. ;)

I've done it for two years and feel great.

It is sustainable, just have to think differently. Last night I went to a party that had a taco bar, just took the meat, lettuce, onion, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream in a cup and ate it no problem.

What other diet let you eat bacon and eggs ?

My blood work is great, my energy levels are great, and I look great.

My wife hated it at first but you have to admit fatty things taste good and she doesn't complain about it anymore since she understands how to cook for me now.

Re: Keto diet..
I don’t think it’s sustainable either. I don’t dispute that people have lost weight, and if they feel great then more power to them. But personally, I felt like crap without (healthy) carbs. I felt like crap eating vegetarian. There appears to be valid scientific arguments on both sides of every diet debate, so I have decided that I am going to stick with cooking from scratch, and eat what I want in moderation. But I’ve always done IF without realizing it was a thing. I rarely eat breakfast, basically a snack in the afternoon, and I eat most of my calories at dinner.

Re: Keto diet..
Make sure to keep your electrolytes in check. I reccomend a multivitamin, magnesium (jigsaw), potassium, and trace minerals supplement.

If you're feeling crappie the first week get some pink salt and pit it in water with some fresh lemon. It'll fix you right up. If you have stomach problems get some psyllium husk pills and that will take care of you.

You can find science that proves anything today. Be careful what you believe in. 280 lb guy at my workplace lost tons of weight on it, but now has heart disease a year later.

If you haven't done keto for 6 months no one cares how you feel. Just because you can't live without carbs doesn't mean others can't. True ketosis is a completely different fuel source and way of thinking, stop being a nay sayers if you haven't actually done it.

So there isn't any science because all the science is that keto is good. The only negative things I have seen are pushed by vegans because keto people usually eat more meat and vegans want to sling mud.

I never feel full without carbs. Meat is too expensive to eat lots of it with every meal. Fat will just send my calorie intake too high.

Dr. Ken Berry

These will help you get more familiar with keto and why it's so powerful. Don't listen to those naysayers why have never done it in this thread. Keto changed my life.
