Do you play Fortnite?

I play it but I haven't spent a penny on it. Also Epic Games said they are releasing "Save The World" for free sometime soon this year...

we're lucky that our house has back/sunroom that we made dedicated playroom, so his game system is in there. He just can't turn the volume up too loud.

ok. I'm not worried about the best gaming experience he can have. His friends all play fortnite so that's what he plays.

My kid plays it.

Far as I can see the cash really only gets you cosmetics like new skins, gliders etc.

I got them the £7.99 thing that let them trade in the XP they got from playing.

make your kids grind for their shit they will appreciate it more when they get it .

I tried it. I find battle royales horrible, because there is a huge gap of talent when playing.

Games are $60. Standard rate. Expansion packs and DLC is how they get you.

Before this they sold figurines to link with the game as additional content.

My 12 y/o spends all of his allowance on this crap.

I suspect that will change when he starts getting into girls more but for now it's games and content.

They keep them all in beta or infinite universe form to continue bleeding the well of disposable income.

There is never a point when 1 player has everything. The whole system is set up this way for product security.

You have to set the limit financially and let them choose how to waste that money.

Once you give in to them being a part of the gaming world by buying a system, this battle over DLC becomes the main issue with the kids.

I gave in about 2 years ago. I should have waited but I didn't know then what I know now.

TBH at £7.99 it got me some peace and quiet for a day.

You can play the game fine without the cosmetics and getting down to the last two is simply judging where the storm will frm and hiding.

Actually, believe it or not, Fortnite is FREE and DOWNLOADABLE VIA Microsoft store or PSN.

Pretty sweet.

Fortnite is a real fun game.



With that said --- Spending money on the game gets you things that will make your character look different or show different emotion. You cant buy anything that will make yourself more powerful or more significant than another player.

Don't let them con you ... they can play the hell out of it for free like millions of others

I only started hearing about this game after discovering Americans don't use the word fortnight.

Buy him the next season for battle royale.The new season should start in two or three weeks and cost about $10.It's not a pay to win game,so dlc is purely cosmetic.Skins and guilders alone can cost ten to twenty dollars.Pickaxes are usually around eight-fifteen dollar range.
If you buy him the forth season he'll get like three,four skins and around two,three guilders and picks.Not to mention lots of other cool cosmetics,like contrails while skydiving and dances.
It cost 950 in game currency called v bucks, and if your son can finish the season he'll unlock 1,500 v bucks along the way.
Plus he'll most likely love unlocking everything.
Keep a eye on Fortnite twitter or just get your son to let you know when the new season starts.

yeah ...wait til next season starts and get the battle pass ...I think it's $10 and you can unlock a bunch of stuff with it.

the "save the world" expansion is cool but they've said it will eventually be available for FREE sometime in 2018, so it's not exactly worth it.

Show your kid the Canadough southpark episode and they will understand why playing fortnite for free is the way to go.
