Anonymous Coward User ID: 75776706 United States 04/26/2018 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We passed Constitutional Carry a couple years back in Maine. And kept our right to buy firearms from our neighbor as long as we are over 21, a resident of Maine, and and have not committed a felony. It has worked out great for the state and its people. Hope all states pass this law and we have reciprocity bill to back it too. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74005628 So by calling it "Constitutional" carry and them having to pass a law to make it so, are they admitting that the Constitution is null and void? You have to pass a bill to follow the law? |

It should be illegal what these bastards do around here. Freedom requires breathing room, the Constitution presupposes that there will be some crazies among us so that the rest of us can enjoy freedom. - Judge Andrew Napolitano A huge shit cloud is coming! |

No, we can't let people just carry guns everywhere!!!! It is rather stupid that the law has to be voted on in the first place because the 2nd amendment doesn't say we have the right to KEEP arms, it says we have the right to KEEP AND BEAR arms. Big point there. We've always had the right to have weapons on our person according to our Bill of Rights. Just have to hope mattressback Mary signs it into law! Purity of Essence |

"I do not support the rights of law enforcement to feel not threatened or safe to the detriment of my own constitutional rights," said Rep. Jeff Coody, the bill's author. [link to kfor.com] What is interesting is that most law enforcement seem to support the measure. Cops around here understand that more firearms legally in the hands of upright citizens means less bodies of innocent people end up in the morgue. Arizona has constitutional carry, we aren't killing police officers left and right because of it. It's an argument made by leftists and anti rights tyrants. Cops being shot at traffic stops or any other interactions tends to be a demographic issue (*COUGH*), regardless of the state's gun laws. A law abiding conceal carrying civilian isn't going to suddenly decide to snap and shoot a cop at the window of their car during a traffic stop because the state legalized something they may have already been doing anyways. |

Even without a carry permit here in Oklahoma, I've carried and had no problems. Once, I was stopped by the police and had a revolver on the seat in plain view, he said nothing. I guess out here in the sticks, miles away from the nearest town, things are a lot different than in the big city. DOOM is what you make of it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76505732 United States 04/29/2018 12:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a resident of Oklahoma I have to say that I fully support this bill! Quoting: Zuzu The process to attain a permit at the moment is a tad silly. I suspect that it is more about the money made than being sure that those carrying are qualified. There is very little on gun safety during class or range testing which is what most new shooters really needed. There is some information on legalities but most should be common sense. What's more, none of the steps in the process would have weeded out a potential criminal who did not have previous convictions on a variety of crimes, a background check at the time of firearm purchase is far more inclusive. It's time that bills of this nature are passed nationwide to allow law abiding, responsible citizens to defend themselves and loved ones from those that would do harm! Senate Bill 1212 would allow anyone who owns a gun to carry it without a permit. Quotes under 50%: "We ought to be able to carry any gun whether we are licensed or not.' Doesn't the Supreme Court contradict that 'cause it's not actually a right?" said Rep. Collin Walke. Supporters say better efforts are need to screen potential gun buyers, but that shouldn't punish current gun owners. "Would it surprise you that the majority that have committed heinous crimes either have mental health conditions or the background checks have not been followed up? We're failing on that end. We need to concentrate on that end and not hinder our law-abiding citizens," said Rep. Justin Humphreys. snip "It will allow people in Oklahoma to have a gun to protect themselves without putting themselves in jeopardy and without going through the entire permit process and paying close to $300," Mike said. Edit _____________________________________________________ I think that this quote here explains why some don't want this bill and it has nothing to do with the safety of citizens. “The Oklahoma State Bureau of investigation gets a great deal of money from the permitting process,” Coody replied, “So they simply are concerned about revenue over the freedom of law abiding citizens.” [link to www.news9.com] Edit _______________________________________________________ Here is the bill itself for those interested. [link to www.oklegislature.gov] You needed a permit to constitutional carry? LOL Right the irony. |
