Re: Something that confuses me about the bible.
Government, although it may be abused by men, is itself a divine institution.

God allows leaders into positions of power. God would reward the obedient and Godly nation of Israel with kings who would do them well. A people who were living in sin and for self rather than God, practicing wickednesss, were given wicked leaders as a judgement. This is the pattern throughout out the books of kings/chronicles, and was elucidated beforehand in Deuteronomy, etc. and confirmed in the books of the prophets.

Jesus said "my kingdom is NOT of this world, else would my servants fight". The Bible says we are to pray for our leaders, it does not say take up arms and replace a tyrannical government. This was never a practice of God's true people. If the people get right of God, then God will establish righteous leaders who are on the side of the people. Even King David would not cut off a piece of Sauls robe when He was seeking to kill him, because "he was God's anointed". The ancient sects of the Waldenses laid down their lives to the persecuting power, "Loving not their lives unto death", "to receive a better Resurrection", "precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints".

While we are to obey "the powers that be", it is only to the extent that it does not conflict with our conscience in light of the Word of God, the sacred and Holy Scriptures. The second there is a conflict, as the apostle peter said, "We ought to obey God rather than men" no matter the cost.

It would do well for those who name the name of Christ to study the prophecies of the book of revelation, as they most certainly tell of a time that there will be a system called the false prophet, which is identified as the beast or kingdom that comes out of the earth, and which will make an image to the first beast which represents the roman papacy, a church-state power. This will result in civil laws contrary to God's laws, culminating in what's known as the mark of the beast. Those who choose to do what's right before heaven will not be able to buy or sell, and will face persecution.

The time to get series in your walk with God, and prepared SPIRITUALLY for what's to come, and to die and stand in judgment, is now.

Maranatha, Amen, and God speed, saints of the Most High.

In Yeshua Jesus the Messiah's name.

Romans 13 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

I want to please God, but I'm having trouble accepting the part in bold.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Substitute man for they in what I wrote and you get

God hates that...so man say

To mean God did not say anything about questioning everything. Rather man is claiming God hates questioning only to compel people to submit to those claiming they speak on God's behalf.

Remember, Paul wrote Romans, and before he did he killed every Judaite who converted to Christianity believing himself as an authority doing God's work. And even though he repented when he met Christ on the way to Damascus, Peter never fully trusted him.

Question everything, especially what man says or writes about God.

Reread it.

Jesus taught me this the other day, that no one possesses power but only God IS power. What people and animals and nature are given is authority over that power in certain and limited ways.

So reread it and don't assume it's talking about humans only. I thought of when I was caught in and almost died by hurricane-strength waves at the beach. Had I continued to resist the waves, that power ordained by God, I wouldn't be here, but I stopped resisting and God spew me out the ocean.

The meek (submissive, obedient, rule-followers) shall inherit the earth.

Jesus said resist the devil but don't resist a violent person.

Power (among men) is only given by authority. Everyone is human but some have authority over others.

So if you put your pride in check and just go 25mph in a 25mph zone, and obey all speed limits, then you won't have to worry about police behind you or being one to cause an accident. Rules are nice and Satan wants anarchy, that's why God blessed us with order through government which is just believing in giving and accepting authority.

Jesus Christ, Gold Almighty, a man, the one who has every right to command you, does your pride resist HIM like it might resist another man? If we disobey rules and the authority of others why would we think that we would obey Jesus?

seems like free will and consequences... godlessness, turning from the Creator and Sustainer of all life, must have consequences...so we get the rulers we deserve...God creates both good and evil. nothing exists unless He allows. By controlling the consequences God controls who rules. This does not mean the rulers are godly. The middle ground: "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's"...meaning we are not to do anything that is immoral, even if it means death...as in, renouncing faith or obeying orders that are evil.

sometimes it is hard to keep in mind that the wheat and tares are allowed to grow together. there are literally people who hate God living among us. often they pose as Christians and "good" people...while their goals are evil.

this life is short. eternity is long. "

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness..."

Re: Something that confuses me about the bible.
Angels are immortal, men are mortal. Angels are very strong but God denied them the emotions that men were given as that is what makes them good parents and good shepherds to the other flesh they were given dominion over. Ge:6 shows that without that tings go wrong for Angels. In their new heaven they can be given in marriage and their child would be born perfected and not be in danger of ending up in the fiery lake.
Men will be immortal and still know about good and evil when they are in the new earth.
God sets the timeline for the changes and since progression is shown all flesh will eventually enter the same new heaven that angels are rewarded with.

Heb:12:22:
But ye are come unto mount Sion,
and unto the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem,
and to an innumerable company of angels,

I'm having trouble believing that the very same people who are setting up the new world order are ordained by God.

You don't think they had "disinfo campaigns" back in the day? Altering religious texts was their version of that.

Don't be naive.

Dead sea scrolls for one thing prove the O.T. was never altered. The numerous extant texts of the N.T. known collectively as the Textus Receptus, or "Received Text" bear witness to the fact that neither had the N.T. scriptures been manipulated. The Bible is 100% consistent cover-to-cover, evidencing it's divine inspiration.

Did it ever occur to you that's because they were not part of the original canon of scripture, on account of their coming later in history, and furthermore that they are not inspired? Those books you mention come from the school of Alexandria and are based in the occcult, they were written by jevvs who were kabbalist... but don't take my word for it, you go ahead and do your research. Or just believe whatever your heart desires on baseless grounds. But you will be held accountable, not only for your actions in light of such ignorance, but for what you recommend to others.

Or maybe you will be held to account for promoting a false religion and for discouraging people from thinking freely and finding more truth.

If I may please, it is a matter of what books were accepted as Canon into the Christian Bible. Some were accepted, some were discarded, some were edited to exclude those portions that did not fit the political beliefs of the time: that the rulers were the chosen of God and were to be followed absolutely was added--you just discovered one of those sentences that 'gave power' to the leaders of the day.

The Christian bible, in its present form is very much a direct result of the Council of Nicaea, also called First Council of Nicaea, convened in 325. It was the first ecumenical council of the Christian church, meeting in ancient Nicaea (now Iznik, Turkey).

It was called by the emperor Constantine I, an unbaptized catechumen, who presided over the opening session and took part in the discussions. He hoped a general council of the church would solve the problem created in the Eastern church by Arianism.

It's been altered a hundred times at least.

Obviously it would have been in the government's best interests to put this wording into the bible.

Nor you. If a large number of manuscripts agree on a sequence of events and a few found books disagree which do you trust and why? I'm going to trust manuscripts closer to the source. Gnosticism is wrong the only reason people grab onto it is because one it's not traditional Christianity so they get to feel like a rebel and two it resembles universalism/a lot of new age BS. My dad always spoke highly of the books you speak but that's only because of his interest in Buddhism.

When looking at cannot you have to ask yourself "do all of these puzzle pieces connect?". With the old testament and new testament put together it is a resounding yes. Tell me who the gnostics believe the seed of WOMAN (strange choice of words right? until you consider a virgin birth).

Daniel speaking of the Son of Man. Isaiah prophesying the Messiah calling him almighty God. Abraham describing the sight of THREE men approaching him and while the two men (angels) go off to Sodom, the third man stays behind whom is identified as the LORD. The small details we miss like the criminal being let go instead of Jesus his name barrabas literally translates to "son of the father".

Jesus was a man but he was also more then that. He possesses two nature's mortal and divine because he entered into creation to live a perfect life on our behalf teaching us and ultimately by HIS choice laying down his life so we can escape our shackles of sin.

There was no official rabbinical priesthood at the time so there goes that assumption that Jesus had to be married. Yes Jesus had to die so I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding Jesus but what you need to be aware of is he died for you because he loves you that much. He suffered the worst death for all of us and all we need to do is believe on him and repent from our sinful ways.

There are things in the Dead Sea Scrolls selectively left out, oh like the Book of Judas or the Book of Mary Magdalen or the Nag Hamadi.

You can't cherry pick to make your case.

Re: Something that confuses me about the bible.
Government, although it may be abused by men, is itself a divine institution.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76342613

The Bible had multiple writers from different time periods.

It's been altered a hundred times at least.

Obviously it would have been in the government's best interests to put this wording into the bible.

You don't think they had "disinfo campaigns" back in the day? Altering religious texts was their version of that.

Don't be naive.

Nope, the NT is not consistent with the OT, and the NT is not internally consistent. The canon wasn't always set in stone either.

But you will be held accountable, not only for your actions in light of such ignorance, but for what you recommend to others.

canon, trinity, cardinal, Pope, vicar...sounds like religion to me.

Yeshua hated religion.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76492056

You are correct, so why are you commending apocryphal books which Romish church's council of trent command be accepted?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76342613

So why do you accept any books in the Bible? 1doh1 Who do you think compiled and canonized it for you? And the Protestant Bibles also contained the Apocrypha.

No, Isaiah explicitly says the messiah will be a God-fearing servant. The trinity idol is a filthy abomination invented by team satan.

Re: Something that confuses me about the bible.
Kings are given great privileges and almost always they abuse it somehow but they also have great responsibility. David was a murderer and an adulterer and those were death penalty sins. I don’t understand it well yet but God (and israel) could collectively forgive him.

Kings still have to answer to God. If they don’t they and their nation gets punished or even uprooted.

ps i’m not a pastor or expert on these matters I’m just a brother.
