"the powers that be" does not have a singular definition.

you are mistaking a modern term for what was meant in the bible.

That would be like reading antique manuscript describing the huge boner of a man and thinking it meant an erection.

"powers" are God given supernatural abilities.

Do all you Christians trust your government?

Answer before reading further

Answer!!!!!!

You c
Do realize that Constantine took the true bible. Picked and chose what worked for the government and the adgenda and gave that version to the people. King James translated it after Constantine already got his hand in it... The original bible is long gone I'm afraid. The Greek supplicant is the closest to the original.

If the bible said it was good to be gay would you think it meant homosexual?

Re: Something that confuses me about the bible.
Government, although it may be abused by men, is itself a divine institution.

God allows leaders into positions of power. God would reward the obedient and Godly nation of Israel with kings who would do them well. A people who were living in sin and for self rather than God, practicing wickednesss, were given wicked leaders as a judgement. This is the pattern throughout out the books of kings/chronicles, and was elucidated beforehand in Deuteronomy, etc. and confirmed in the books of the prophets.

Jesus said "my kingdom is NOT of this world, else would my servants fight". The Bible says we are to pray for our leaders, it does not say take up arms and replace a tyrannical government. This was never a practice of God's true people. If the people get right of God, then God will establish righteous leaders who are on the side of the people. Even King David would not cut off a piece of Sauls robe when He was seeking to kill him, because "he was God's anointed". The ancient sects of the Waldenses laid down their lives to the persecuting power, "Loving not their lives unto death", "to receive a better Resurrection", "precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints".

While we are to obey "the powers that be", it is only to the extent that it does not conflict with our conscience in light of the Word of God, the sacred and Holy Scriptures. The second there is a conflict, as the apostle peter said, "We ought to obey God rather than men" no matter the cost.

It would do well for those who name the name of Christ to study the prophecies of the book of revelation, as they most certainly tell of a time that there will be a system called the false prophet, which is identified as the beast or kingdom that comes out of the earth, and which will make an image to the first beast which represents the roman papacy, a church-state power. This will result in civil laws contrary to God's laws, culminating in what's known as the mark of the beast. Those who choose to do what's right before heaven will not be able to buy or sell, and will face persecution.

The time to get series in your walk with God, and prepared SPIRITUALLY for what's to come, and to die and stand in judgment, is now.

Maranatha, Amen, and God speed, saints of the Most High.

In Yeshua Jesus the Messiah's name.

Re: Something that confuses me about the bible.
It means everything is of God's will.

The rich and powerful that are pure evil, are only there because God allowed them.

As humans, our knowledge and wisdom is limited, so we may never truly know why.

However, God punishes the evil by giving them more wealth and power, so they can further delude themselves from the truth and remain to be ungrateful to God, this way they earn residence in the greatest depths of hell.

The innocent and pure that resister this evil will be rewarded with paradise. This world in fleeting; even those who suffered immensely here will remember no suffering when granted an eternal paradise. It is a very small price to pay to prove our purity to our own souls.

The King of England made believing in the ball Earth Theory part of his new bible. It was placed in all parts of the Kings realm. Punishment for coming out against it.

The kings, the main dictate to make their new bible was to reinforce the concept of a divine royal class ordained by God.

Most places that were not part of the British Empire know the Earth is flat.

The sun never set on the British Empire. Vast parts of the Earth and it's people were made to believe in the ball Earth theory.

You have quite the double standard going.

Jesus healed the sick, but you say God punishes the sick/the failing.

Government, although it may be abused by men, is itself a divine institution.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76342613

The Bible had multiple writers from different time periods.

It's been altered a hundred times at least.

Obviously it would have been in the government's best interests to put this wording into the bible.

You don't think they had "disinfo campaigns" back in the day? Altering religious texts was their version of that.

Don't be naive.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76522689

Dead sea scrolls for one thing prove the O.T. was never altered. The numerous extant texts of the N.T. known collectively as the Textus Receptus, or "Received Text" bear witness to the fact that neither had the N.T. scriptures been manipulated. The Bible is 100% consistent cover-to-cover, evidencing it's divine inspiration.

Some of those books are actually just letters and poems.

Romans is a letter.

I read this in Jane Lead's writings.

These are those that shall be the first Springing Fruits of the Sharon-Glory, separated and redeemed out of the Earth, to bear Dominion over it.

For the Ghostly Powers from this sevenfold Pool, into which they are Baptized, shall expressly shew forth what they are designed for;

not only to go forth to make report of the Kingdom approaching: But to be Active Instruments in the Establishment of it,

by overpowering that which is Babylonish and Earthly, and making Discovery of all False Appearances of such as do pretend to own the Spiritual Kingdom,

but are found as hollow and empty Trunks, that bear a Name to live when they are dead; not having the Sap of the Spirit springing in them.

Upon the Plains of Sharon where the spicy Plants do grow, it will be given to them to discern, what under this Face of Covering does it self show.

sevenfold pool.

:sevenfold:

So that by the Rising of this Apostolical Spirit, all the false Magus’s will be tried, that they may no more go forth to deceive the Simple and Ignorant-minded.

Which will prove a terrible Shaking to their Old Heaven and Earth, which must have an overturning.

And may it rather be by the most Sympathizing Sense and Love-Compassion that this Holy Priestly Order have for them,

than by the severe Vindictive Justice going out against them. That if by any means they may be in time deterred from being Supporters of the Kingdom of the Beast

and the Spirit of Fallacy.

Did it ever occur to you that's because they were not part of the original canon of scripture, on account of their coming later in history, and furthermore that they are not inspired? Those books you mention come from the school of Alexandria and are based in the occcult, they were written by jevvs who were kabbalist... but don't take my word for it, you go ahead and do your research. Or just believe whatever your heart desires on baseless grounds. But you will be held accountable, not only for your actions in light of such ignorance, but for what you recommend to others.
