3.02pm update: Air travel is being impacted by the volcano eruption
People are being advised to stay away from the evacuated areas near Kilauea, which are on the south side of the island of Hawaii, about 30 miles from Hilo.
Hawaiian Airlines is offering customers travel waivers for flights scheduled for Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4.
The new flight must be booked by Friday, May 11 and have to be made for seats in same flight class with the same origin and destination.

Do you know what the situation is in Pahoa? I have friends near their on papaya farm rd, they are always hard to reach.

I was asking the same thing. My people are on Josana's farm. Any word form some one on the ground near Pahoa?

The eruption in the Leilani Estates subdivision in the lower East Rift Zone of Kīlauea Volcano that began in late afternoon ended by about 6:30 p.m. HST. Lava spatter and gas bursts erupted from the fissure for about two hours, and lava spread a short distance from the fissure, less than about 10 m (33 ft).

HAWAII ISLAND — Hawaii County police, fire, and county agencies, along with the National Guard and partners, continue to assist with an evacuation of the Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens subdivisions in the face of a volcanic eruption in the area. All Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens Subdivision residents are ordered to evacuate immediately.
Hawaii County Fire Department reports that extremely high levels of dangerous sulfur dioxide gas have been detected in the evacuation area affected by recent volcanic activity. Elderly residents, young people, and others with respiratory issues should leave the area immediately.

Ige immediately signed an emergency declaration and FEMA is activated? It took him 2 weeks to sign the declaration for Kauai and we’re still waiting for FEMA!

My shack is fine but the old main house on our property suffered roof failure and we flooded from the top down. Samaritan’s Purse is going to repair and rebuild.

This lava is much more violent than past flows. Last time we saw lava in the 80's it just slowly moved along. This lava is moving fast and violent. Spattering 150 feet in the air. Multiple breakouts in Leilani. Bad...

On earthquake Europe it's 5.2 mg earthquake plus 3 other above 3mg but actually when you click on link to 5.2 mg quake it says 5.4 mg 9km form volcano

Just felt another earthquake. This one was bigger than yesterday’s one.
The sulfur levels out Leilani Estates is too high. People are being evacuated. The military and police are helping. Unfortunately, there are looters already out there robbing people’s houses. Some of them dressed up as Military. Sad. Lots of tweekers out that side.
