The first one looked even larger to me & now we're back to seeing those long thin lines again, as well as the jagged signal on the first of the two bottom monitors, which they cleaned up while I was typing this & before I got another screenshot, grrr....

A nice thing about the youtube sites that are monitoring you can rewind back a few hours.

I hope someone posts a before and after picture of the PGV cam. It was so beautufull with farms, now a spewing volcano with lava river, everything burnt down and the plants dead........, in such a short time.

We did not get enough sleep REM, LOL rem sleep, you were still up late last night when I was and we are the first ones up. The new baby chicks wake me up early and need special care. I will be so glad when the cold snap is over and I can move them to the barn.

Almost 4 hours of sleep but I'm an odd one(thank you Captain Obvious). I'm hyper sensitive to the changing energies, both of a terrestrial(thunderstorms) & non terrestrial(coronal hole streams, solar storms, gamma ray bursts, etc.), full moon, moderate & stronger planetary conjunctions & I've always had issues with getting much sleep right around the full moon. I should be back to my usual 5-5 1/2 in no time ;-)
As for REM sleep.... I regularly start dreaming within minutes of going to sleep, sometimes it seems like before I'm actually even asleep.
As for your newborn chicks.... very cool, even though it's affecting your sleep & at least it's a short term, soon to be resolved, issue & for a good cause.

Has anyone from the Big Island given an indication of what comes next for the people who live there? Has this come out at the community meetings?

It's heading into the eighth week now. I've read that 80 per cent of the papaya trees have been destroyed by the lava, taking those jobs with them. The farms were mainly in Puna and Kapoho.

I started reading about Washington communities after Mount St. Helen's. A big challenge in the aftermath was the water supply. The initial chemical changes were only part of the problem. The abrasive nature of the particulates in the water damaged municipal pipes and plumbing in homes. Communities that used river wster had to switch to aquifer supplies, and challenges are ongoing to this day.

What is the plan for the people of the Big Island who have lost their land, homes and jobs, and will never be able to return to the lives they had before? How safe is it to relocate elsewhere on the island right now? Temporsry housing is one thing. Long-term planning is another. "Profound" changes to the phydical landscape seem life-altering.

In previous disasters of various kinds elsewhere, migration is the end result. This is very difficult, but reality.

I'm thinking that the larger event looks like a 3.4-3.6 equivalent event.

The rest of the 48 are having a heat wave but in the NW I am having a cold wave. Forecast for Monday high of 69 and 40 low. I am still using fire wood and the heaters. I usually have a hard time keeping the house cool this time of the year with the air conditioner going full blast.

March it was so hot I had to turn on the air conditioner and the sudden heat killed my young plants.

They now list it as a 3.6 equivalent event.

Am fascinated by the lava picks, would be interesting to see what's going on below the water surface up close to where the lava meets the water.

How deep is the water, is the lava flowing into the ocean below the surface, etc.

So, almost 6000 earthquakes in the past 11 months, then 18,000 in the past month. That puts it in perspective. Can I extrapolate that most of the 6000 occurred in the past 60 days, and earthquakes have more than tripled in the past month? Then nearly half of this month's earthquakes have occurred in the past week. And some people think it's slowing down.

All I can think of is the effect this having on the Hilina Slump.

I hope the lava tours give the oceanfront flow a wide berth. This might not end well.
