Where you are looking is based on your first assumption that you followed your normal routine.

First, find a comfy place to sit down, close your eyes, and take yourself back to the day when you lost your necklace. Think, what was my journey, what was different about that day. Did I do anything needing to take the necklace off? Did you trip up anywhere? Did you snag your clothes anywhere? Anything that could have caused the necklace to break and fall off.

E.g. I remember touching it in the car, I got home, I parked out front, took shopping out the car, opened the front door etc.

So check your car, the path, the GRASS, the carpet, the bags in the kitchen, etc.

You can't find it because your assumption is wrong about taking it off in your normal place.

I think I took it off and either place it on my bathroom counter, my main bedroom or the dresser chest in my closet.

Look behind nightstand, dresser, and if you have heat registers along your walls, look inside them (from the top.

It fell between something. Check under the couch, between light stand or something like that.

Your daughter tried it on and put it on the counter. Then your son put a towel over it. Your housekeeper put the towel in the hamper taking the necklace with it. She then remembered that you have instructed her to let your son pick up after himself so she placed the towel back on the counter.
Unfortunately for you this led the necklace into the hamper and from there into your washing machine. You will find it there but it may have been damaged...

It snagged on a piece of clothing and is either still snagged on that piece of clothing or fell off after it snagged. Check all clothing worn that day.
