It’s happening right now. They are voting on Wednesday. Protestors are calling for a flood on the senators.

No throttling
No censorship

Don’t let them end net neutrality protections.

It happened with ley lines and sacred sites. Ones version of heaven is another’s hellish nightmare. Neutrality is a right, a must. There’s other ways for protection that are common sense.

This OP is correct. There is absolutely no reason you'd want them to end Net Neutrality unless you're the CEO of Comcast or some shit.

There's so much disinfo on this thread, it's absolutely bonkers.

If Net Neutrality ends, companies like Time Warner and/or Verizon will be able to charge you extra for viewing sites like GLP. In addition to your GLP membership, you'll have to pay just to bring the site up on the net because it won't be part of your provider's "basic package" and they'll throttle loading speeds or possibly make it completely unaccessible.

If Net Neutrality dies, TPTB will be able to control the internet the way they control TV and cable.

Net Neutrality is anything but.

Let the free market reign!

Keep the damn government out of our internet.

You want State Operated Internet? This is how you get it.

Always say no to government when it sticks it's hands in the cookie jar.

I thought the FCC repealed Net Neutrality back in December. It was big news, by one vote it was repealed. Maybe I'm confused.

That said, I agree with you. I like my Internet free and all-accessible.

"Net Neutrality" is deceptively named (as all bills are), it is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the title leads you to believe, just like the "SAFE ACT" which makes you less safe by taking away your guns, Patriot Act which is commie, nazi authoritarian GARBAGE,etc.

"Net Neutrality" means the government takes over the internet. You DO NOT WANT "Net Neutrality" as it's defined in this deceptive, crap NWO garbage legislation, that's why Trump vetoed it last year.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75957387

Exactly. But, the dumbed down sheep don't know it and believe the opposite. They also don't don't understand that the internet has always dedicated fast lanes for sites that require massive bandwidth. It's part of the infrastructure and necessary just as it necessary to have fast lanes and slow lanes on freeways. What happened was ISP wanted to charge bandwidth hogs like Netflix access fees which Netflix didn't want to pay. Netflix would rather those costs be absorbed by individual users. Idiots pushing NN would pass those costs onto all of us. They also have some screwy idea they'll have to start paying more for everything - as though costs plummeted since 2015 - NOT! Fuck these stupid liberals. They ruin everything, always wanting MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL. I hope they get lined up and shot when TSHTF.
 Quoting: thinking...

Net neutral means we all get the same speed, unless of course if you want to watch movies and play games in which case YOU SHOULD PAY for that data.

The idea that the rest of us should pay for it is why ISP;s and BIG CORPS are against net neutrality. It will hurt their bottom line because people will choose a service that doesn't make them pay for others habits.

And really.. is not a user pays system best?

Infrastructure cost are a big deal, and a market being tapped under closed seas.

The counter to this will be some shit about how great the connectivity we have is.... but lets be clear, its been good because of neutrality/.

Because services that want to give, have to install the hardwiredware to make it available.

People who want govt out of the net-neutral argument need to be aware that if big business has its way in this argument, then govt will be the ones footing the bill for all new, and upgraded lines.

That is the thing, free market went to socialism when securities and exchange commission was established. It was put into place to correct the markets. Look at many huge CEO's, they have military connections or in the military at one point. Gov't is already in the big businesses. There is no healthy competition when it comes to the benefit these companies would get having that power over the people. It would keep the old world class system(tiers) going within. But hey, many people fall for pyramid schemes in all aspects, lol

Lol I can't believe so many here want to allow their ISP to charge them extra in order to visit "questionable" sites like GLP.

We're sorry. but you are not subscribed to our Conspiracy Package. For an extra $10.00 a month you get access to the top 5 conspiracy sites on the web. Please visit www.NoNNMeansWeCanFYou.com to apply for the package.

or....

We're sorry. We see you're trying to stream video. We offer our own video on demand service as a convenience for our members.Movies and TV shows can be ordered at a per view rate.

If you aren't interested in our VOD service your internet streaming will be throttled unless you subscribe to the "streaming Package" at only $29.99 a month.

If you choose not to subscribe to the streaming package it is recommended that you watch your streamed videos in the smallest available bit rate available to avoid constant buffering.

I gotta add that the extra $10.00 will only get you access to the sites. You'll still have to pay for your site membership. ISPs start charging for site access the site owners are forced to make memberships mandatory in order to keep the site up. Ads don't pay much when you've lost 3/4 or your normal viewership to ISP blackages.

Just look at the stats for any site like this.

You will see they are all way down.

Why?

Because Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc have been censoring them hard core since the election.

Want to talk about revenue?

Revenue is in the shitter for all these sites as well because there is a active effort to remove any and all sources of funding from these sites.

Then there is the organized shilling and trolling that goes on..

This is designed to run off visitors from these sites.

It's bad out there people.

We're all under attack like never before.

I believe GLP is an important communication platform.

We'll do our best to keep it up and running as long as we can.

I think we're structured and funded well enough to weather the storm.

California passes historic bill to restore net neutrality

The California State Senate just voted to approve SB 822, the strongest and most comprehensive state-level net neutrality bill in the country. The bill heads next to Governor Jerry Brown’s desk. If he signs it, it’s likely to spread to other states, and will have serious implications in the fight to restore net neutrality nationwide. The current vote count is 23-11 as some members were absent. Final vote count soon, but it has the votes needed to pass.

Yesterday the bill passed the California Assembly in a landslide 61-18 vote with bipartisan support.

The Trump administration said Sunday it will sue California in an effort to block what some experts have described as the toughest net neutrality law ever enacted in the United States, setting up a high-stakes legal showdown over the future of the Internet.

California on Sunday became the largest state to adopt its own rules requiring Internet providers like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon to treat all web traffic equally. Golden State legislators took the step of writing their law after the Federal Communications Commission scrapped nationwide protections last year, citing the regulatory burdens they had caused for the telecom industry.
