The official Story is not adding up.
Renal embolization for 'benign condition' sounds like treatment for a symptomatic angiomyolipoma (a non-cancerous tumor consisting mostly fat and blood vessels). If so she would be going home same day, possibly next day if there was a bleeding complication. A week long hospital stay implies major surgery.
In general any solid, non-fat containing tumor mass in a young healthy patient would be excised surgically via partial or total nephrectomy. These surgeries can often be done laparoscopically resulting in short hospital stays of a day or two. Only at surgical pathology would it be definitively classified as benign (oncocytoma) versus malignant (renal cell carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma, metastasis). Renal masses are not generally targeted for percutaneous biopsy under CT guidance because some of the tumors can seed the needle track, resulting in metastasis.
While very common, other benign renal conditions - stone disease, cysts, pyelonephritis - are never treated with embolization.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75222193 They are not. I’m concerned. I edited your first line as it seems these are not “facts”.
